Desire, a pull to learn more, to be in a certain place, a thirst for knowledge on that subject, seeing things fall into place to make it possible, that kind of expierence.

Well I am an engineer. I feel that God led me there mostly by gifting me in the areas of Math and Science. I enjoyed physics in High school and when I went and talked to people who know me they too suggested engineering. I prayed about it and then trusted tht God dranted me wisdom in amking the decision. It made sense in a lot of ways. I can't say that I heard a voice from the clouds or anything like that but, I did experience a peace and surety when I did decided on that. Maybe someday I will feel restless and God will be pushing me somewhere else. I hope this helps.

This is so difficult. Sometimes Christians expect a road to Damascus experience when really the sensible thing to do is simply to get down to the business of using the academic and practical gifts which God has given them. I think that we are also drawn naturally to the right kind of career by the temperament and personality which has been given us. It makes sense to include these things in the equation. When you are good at something and you feel really alive and fulfilled in applying your talents to it, there would have to be a very sound reason for not doing it. That is when people feel a distinct call from God to do something else and feel that they will have no rest within themselves until they take steps to do that something else. Very often this will involve giving up a flourishing career in their chosen field against the dictates of common sense because they feel compelled to do it. This link gives brief details of someone who did this http://www.cmf.org.uk/literature/content.asp?context=article&id=1725. I have always had a struggle over this whole business of discerning what is the thing to do. God has had to do some very dramatic things to get me to head in the right direction. One such startling thing was when I declined to travel to an interview only to find the interviewer jumping on the next train to interview me where I was! It just so happened that he was looking for a pretext to go there! When things like that occur, you just have to sit up and take notice! But to get back to this idea of vocation: I think that when it is the real thing, you just have to do it. You will find no rest and peace of mind until you do. Otherwise: pray about things, study God's word and use your God given gifts and inclinations as He intends you to. If God has other plans, He will make it plain -- in His way.

That's purely subjective. No one can tell you what your future holds... or they would be fortune tellers. God doesn't say to someone, "Tell John I want him to be a fireman. That's the reason I created him"
The experience of your life, your own growing relationship with God... the things and people that God puts into your life along the way, will prepare you to do what you're here to do. And that may not be one over-arching thing. There may be many things along the way that will challenge your understanding and abilities, and that you will have the opportunity to effect in a positive way.
The main thing is for you to remain open to God, and that you embrace the challenges that come, honestly, prayerfully and genuinely.
You're not here by accident, God knew what He was doing when He created you... and He will be with you every step of the way... to guide you, to inform you and to strengthen you. He seldom gives us a roadmap that outlines where we're going the rest of our lives, but He does make the journey with us.
So relax. You will do what you're meant to do.

Usually, it is where you are, that you are called to. Opportunities come up that you can fulfill. I had no idea. I went from C&C member to musician travelling overseas with an evangelist, to missionary work and teaching, in a communist country for years. Now, I am here. I did not put much effort into 'finding' opportunity. It came to me. But, being in prayer and study, makes things more clear.

You cannot let people telling you this or that pull you away from what God wants you to do. If someone does tell you that the Lord said to do this or that then you make sure that is confirmed in your heart.
My personal experience my pastor gave me a word from the Lord and then he spoke something to my husband that we had not shared with anyone that confirmed what he was saying to me. so it can happen different ways.
My advice is to seek the Lord about it yourself and ask Him to confirm your calling in you and not through someone else.
Best of Luck and God bless.
For His Fame,

Believe me when I say this.He will give you a sign or possibly a thought that only you can understand.Every single person walking on this rock is completely different.
If he wants you to do something for him,he will let you know, one way or another, but you cannot deny him or Jesus and think he will work things out in your life.

Hearing "voices", feeling invisible presences aroud you, thinking that "something" is watching you are all symptoms of schyzophrenia. Getting help from a doctor, idealy a psychiatrist as soon as posible after you first feel the symptoms will help a rpompt recovery.
There is no reason to be ashamed or embarassed , mental illness is just like any other form of illness. The Doctor will help you and often cure you.
