I'm coming down with the flu and it's terrible! My throat is swelling up a tad, the chills are freezing over, and my head feels like it's about to explode. I'll likely wake up tomorrow with full-fledged influenza. What steps should I take to ensure that I get rid of this beast as soon as possible? What should I NOT do? What medicine is best? Will the doctor be able to help? How long should I expect it to last if I take proactive measures to get rid of it? Thanks for the help, I hope this doesn't last! :(

I just had the flu and I took: Nyquil, Comtrex, Vitamin C, drank a lot of fluids, and I also took Augmentin antibiotics which knocked the flur right out. Also, drining Theraflu in the nightime is good too and for your sore throat i would recommend making some honey, butter and lemon mixed together and that soothes the throat. Good luck and hope you feel better

True influenza has yet to make much of an appearance in the US and as of this morning only about 2 dozen cases have been documented in Texas and only 3% of samples sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been positive. This time of year people tend to refer to any illness as the 'flu' and although I do not minimize your misery influenza truly is a remarkably bad illness. If you have influenza anti viral treatment must be started within 36 hours - otherwise rest, fluids, and 3 to 5 days of misery is the rule. I hope that you get well soon.

Firstly drink tea (lemon or green) with honey next try eat garlic for example with avocado or whatever you prefer (eat it the evening unless you don't want to be with garlic smell all day long) also onion is one that kills bacteria. But I don't suggest to see the doctor unless you want to see! Because the doctors usually give antibiotics that can kill the bad bacteria but also harm good bacteria that you have in your body. Also don't stay in bed, move but don't rush either!
I had flu some days ago and I made like I suggested and it helped a lot to get rid of flu! So you just follow or get see a doctor! : ) I hope you will recover soon!! Just let me know what helped most! ; )

Stay home. A doctor won't help, the flu is a virus that can take about 3 -10 days to run its course. Take comfort measures, ie, aspirin or the like, sip hot liquids, especially soups, the steam, salt & nutrition of soup will sooth & feed your ailing body. Rest, rest, rest. Hot showers/baths.

Mucinex is the best thing you can get for youself. I have it myslef for any flu's that come across our way. And that would take it away in less than 3 days. The most it would take is a week.
