I believe the Garden of Eden was meant to be heaven on earth. We were to dwell with God as Adam did. But Adam sinned. So we were separated from God because of that sin. Through Jesus we have salvation and when we die we go to be with Him.
Jesus sacrifice reconciled us to God once and for all.

It was not God's choice for man to be separated from him. If Adam and Eve had not disobeyed God, they would not have been barred from the garden and would not have been separated from God. But since they chose to listen to Satan instead of God, they had to suffer the consequences. Man has a choice, God gave it to him when He made him.God could no longer dwell with Adam and Eve because of their disobedience, so God had to make a plan to redeem man from his sin which is according to his time frame, not ours. God is not bound by time as we are so what seems like forever here on earth is only a day to God. We live here on the earth because of our disobedience to God. He loves us and He wants us to be with him in eternity. That is why we must get ready this side of eternity if we want to be with him. Read the new testsament and understand Gods plan of salvation. Hear, believe, repent, confess Jesus as Lord and be baptized to get rid of your sins. It's all there. Read Acts chapter 2. Be honest with the scriptures and yourself. The Bible is our roadmap to heaven if we want to go there. Please read and study it daily and do what it says. Hope this sheds some light on your question.

Yeah right try this one: - If God is so clever, omnipotent in fact, then why did he love Satan more than all of the other angels before he cast him out of heaven? I mean, they were best friends and if they had opposite sexes they would have been getting it on in a truly Earth shaking way...

But oh no, now Satan (God's ex bosom buddy) is evil incarnate. Sounds like God's just got it in for him... Wonder why?

It is like, you want to get a college degree, by not being able to read or write or maybe count from 1 to 10.
It's like you want to be a president of a corporation by not knowing anything or what you are selling.
You were given life for a purpose and not be just a free loader. You have a responsibility and an obligation with your life and to others, but most especially to your God..

1) he is letting us all into heaven, if u accept the invitation.
2) this earth is NOTHING like hell... believe me hell is worse than anything you could possibly imagine.
3) he created adam and eve and was perfect friends with them until they sinned and stopped listening to God. God cant look at sin so we sinnful creatures cant be in heaven until we accept the invitation and go and give it to the rest of the world to join the party.

God is Holy. Which means that He's perfect in all ways. But we as humans are imperfect, containing sin. Since God loves us He wants to spend eternity with us but He can't because we're sinful and He's Holy. however, He has provided a way for us to be forgiven of our sins and spend eternity with Him. this is through Jesus Christ His Son who payed the penalty of OUR sin on the cross and paved a way for us to be with God in heaven.

So, to answer your question, this earth is sort of like a training ground for people. We've been given a life by God in order for Him to find out who really loves Him in return. Yes, He could simply send everyone to heaven but not everyone wants to go. Besides that, we would all be like robots programed to love God. There is no sincerity in that. God's looking for sincere people to love Him in return. That's why were here.

Gods will is that none will perish and all should come to repentance and inherit ever lasting life.

Earth isn't hell. If we sow evil, we reap what we sow, and it can feel like hell. If we sow good, we reap what we sow, and it can feel like heaven.

God has a purpose for us to have a life on earth and to be reconciled to Him. And that purpose isn't fulfilled yet. It won't be until the new heaven and the new earth.

if you buy into that "opiate of the masses" as it has been called you also have to believe that only certain people really belong "Up there" only those who will follow the rules that each cult makes..... so before you worry about the outcome of it look around you and ask yourself how a "God" would allow all of the horrible things that happen to happen... unless of course he or she just wanted to punish us all for being bad chillens one nation under god which god exactly are they referring to

He wanted you to be free, and to freely choose to love. Would you prefer to be with someone who wanted to be with you (real person), or someone who was with you because he had no choice (robot)?

In another analogy, would you want to have a baby (purity) for a partner, or someone who has been forced to grow up (knowledge of good/evil), can think for himself, who chooses to be good and responsible, and who chooses you because he's mad about you, not because he's incapable of making a choice?

In order to choose what is good, you must be offered the choice of what is evil. Choose love over pride, vanity and selfishness - you KNOW it's much better. Be the real, grown up person. Take responsibility and choose what is good in life: that is, self-sacrifice for the needs of others.

What would you have learned had you stayed as a pure creation? How does one come to know they are charitable, if they have never experienced a chance to be charitable? You would not know your love for the Creator was real, unless you were given the choice to not love Him.
