We can't tell others to practice what they preach. It's up to them. The only thing to do is for US to practice what WE preach.

Generally, however it's a logical fallacy to argue style over substance. For example, if someone asserts something valid... like... smoking may cause cancer. Would you disregard the assertion just because the person saying it smokes? Should that person quit? Sure. But it doesn't make his/her assertion about smoking causing cancer any less valid.

In short - Dismissing valid points just because the person saying them doesn't abide by them is illogical.

Another example -- let's say you got pregnant when you were very young; say, before you were finished with school and before you were even old enough to drive. Does that mean you should not discourage your own children from doing the same?

Of course not, that would make the preacher loose his sense of reality!

One example:

Televangelist preach abstience, then when the show is over they hire the service of nice male hookers, buy popers and enjoy life with the congregation's donations. That's real life !

depends. Most people do or they live by the motto of "Do as i say, Not as i do!" I honestly could care less if someone preached to me aobut repenting and such because the world is coming to an end.

It would seem like the proper thing to do. But considering our religious sector and their preachings... Why should we. They seem to be the biggest hypocrates around.

If one isn't what he preaches, that someone is a hypocrite.

Of course they should.

When a person makes comments or statements outside of their own life and doesn't apply their "wisdom" to their own life their word has NO VALUE. I am not saying you have to be perfect. I am saying that if you don't put effort into and try to apply what you tell others into your own life you are a liar. You are either lying to your self or to others.
