I got high end down cushioned sofas and now the feathers are sticking out. Why and what should I do?

If it's down, the feathers should be very tiny and finely textured. If they are longer than about 1/2 inch, they are probably feathers. Feathers are more coarse and indicate a cheaper product; they also tend to "escape" easier because they have sharper points.

It down is escaping, it's because the weave of the upholstery is not fine enough to keep them inside the cushions. That says to me that the sofas are not as high end as you might have thought.

I'd either return them or otherwise pay to have them reupholstered with something that will keep the down contained. Note: if it's just the cushions, and they are zippered, you could have "liners" sewn for them.

I just pull them out. I don't liked being stabbed. If you don't want to do that, try pushing them back in.
