I am wearing all black, but white pearls seem to stand out too much ... I don't think I will. :(

It is not inappropriate; just remember that the funeral is about the deceased, not about you and what you are wearing.

A funeral is always a sad time and it also is a difficult time when trying to decide what to wear. Black is very traditional, but at the same time classic. White pearls are considered Conservative and classic. They would look very elegant and sophisticated with an all black outfit. I don't think you would "stand out" too much. Nobody I believe would be upset or feel like you were being too flashy. Wearing bright colors and huge earrings may be inappropriate, but I think wearing a classic string of pearls or pearl stud earrings would be very nice.

Pair them with pearl earrings and a bracelet and you're good. Or wear something that's black and white (or cream). You don't have to wear all black to funerals anymore, although I feel wierd if I'm not.
It's about honoring the deceased, not about your outfit. If someone at the funeral is going to give you a hard time about your outfit, to your face or otherwise, they're not there for the right reasons.

I think the pearls would be ok. I think the #1 thing people are concerned about is the type of clothing a person wears to a funeral. It is expected for a person to wear dark colors to show they are in mourning. I recently went to a wake and people were showing up in pajama pants and jeans, etc. That is crossing the line.

If it's a simple single strand of pearls - it's most appropriate.
If it's a very long or multi-stranded set of pearls with garnishments on them, etc...no.
Pearls or with any jewlery for funerals - rule is simple.
Anything flashy or over the top - NO.
Simple and plain and understated - YES.

Funeral is a sad time where the entire congregation mourns the departure of the dead. I feel one should goto attend such an occassion with simplest dress and make up. But this differs from culture to culture and local traditions. In India normally people will attend such ceremonies avoiding fashion and glitter.

Wear as little accessories as possible. Be mute and not flashy in your dressing. Pearls are fine.
