If you can stop someone to ask for the time then why is it different to ask for the date. I have no plans I'm pretty easy going and I have a watch so I know what time it is but sometimes like If I wanna go and see a film thats out on a certain date should I not be able to just stop somone and say excuse me please but do you have the date on you?

People don't ask for the date like that, though. It's common to say, "Excuse me, do you have the time?" but people do not say, "Excuse me, do you have the date?" Maybe he was confused because he didn't know what you were asking for. Next time, ask, "Excuse me, could you tell me what the date is today?"

Since more people ask for the time, it probably just set him back for a moment, he might of hesitated not thinking quick enough and thought you wanted a date! But I see no reason why you couldn't ask for the date, just make sure your clear and say "Excuse me do you know what Month and Date it is today?" That way they are sure its the date of the month and not a date for a drink!

Perhaps he didn't know the answer to your question, or he thought you were asking him to commit an act of prostitution with you.

Buy a watch that shows the date. You can find one at Wal-Mart for about $8.

Because somepeople are crazy that's why you cannot just stop people and ask for the date or the time because somepeople might think you are a killer or you trying to rob them that's why you not suppose just stop people i'm not saying you are a killer i'm just saying some people are like that you know.

Maybe he thought you were asking him for date to go out sometime instead of what day it is.

Probably because they were a bit surprised that someone would not know what day it was. The time is more expected, but unless you were unconcious for a few days, you are sort of expected to know the day. ;)

He probably didnt know if you were serious or just being an ***. He probably didnt want to look like a jackass if he gave you a serious answer. At the same time, he probably didnt want to offend you by giving you a dumb answer to your dumb question.

Maybe because you're a guy and he wasn't gay?

Heck, how should I know?

I don't even know if you're a lady.

But the name is certainly male.

So, I'll go with the first thing

Because you should have looked at the calendar before you left the house.

That's just weird, why do you expect others to know the date, when you yourself do not?
