Yep, your right. There will be a rapture, a "taking up" as the Bible calls it, ecen though it never uses the term rapture specifically.
Theres also the verse, about two men in a field, and one is taken up, and one left behind. I'll see if I can find it.
"Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left. Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming." Matthew 24:40- 42

Well I do think that there will definately be a rapture just not sure when. somewhere around the 7 years of the rapture. Interesting book about the rapture called "The Sign" by Robert Van Kampen. Takes a look at the Pre-Wrath raputure of the church.
As for the first one. That is a marriage purposal. The actual wording is "In my Father's house there are many rooms." I would rather live in the house of God than down the street from Him. Anyway, it is how a groom would talk to his bride in the ancient middle east. The people of the time period would have recognized it as such. It is just one more way that Jesus is calling the church his bride.

Yea, but where does it say that when he comes for his people he will only secretly take his own and leave the others clueless and still alive and living and working?
Second Coming of Christ:
The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, but the unrighteous will die. The almost complete fulfillment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is imminent. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times. (Titus 2:13; Heb. 9:28; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; Matt. 24:14; Rev. 1:7; Matt. 24:43, 44; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; 2 Thess. 1:7-10; 2:8; Rev. 14:14-20; 19:11-21; Matt. 24; Mark 13; Luke 21; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 Thess. 5:1-6.)

Neither of the two quotes you gave from the Bible refers to a rapture. The rapture is not Biblical.
Both quotes from the books of John and Thessalonians are referring to Christ's Second Coming. When this happens, the earth will be mostly destroyed from the Tribulation, and the remnant who survive the Tribulation will be caught up - then comes the Judgment.

Sometimes people get caught up (no pun intended) in semantics. Since the word "rapture" doesnt appear in the Bible, they think it must mean its a completely false teaching. However, the word "rapture" means to be "caught up" which IS clearly in the Bible as we see in the 1 Thess 4 passage. Maybe there would be less fuss if we call it the Great Catch Up? There are several rapture theories, I personally believe it will be after Tribulation but before Wrath though there are some who believe Jesus returned in 70 AD, the being "caught up" has already happened (spiritually, not physically) and we're living in the 1000 year reign of Christ now.

Some sincere Christians believe bodies of deceased Christians will be resurrected (glorified) and the living will be instantly changed and that all will be "raptured" caught up into Heaven where we will be for seven years, at the Marriage Feast of the Lamb WHILE the Great Tribulation transpires on Earth.
Others think the Resurrection will be immediately followed by the establishment of the 1000 Year Kingdom on Earth.
Some, sincerely, believe that Christians will be given NEW bodies and not resurrected bodies.
Scripture seems quite clear on RESURRECTION; but not quite as definitive about RAPTURE.

The rapture of the church is Biblical... its in the book of Revelation.... its just some christians dont believe the book of Revelation was meant to be taken litteraly. but Revelation does talk about the rapture of the church in which the dead in Christ shall rise first. He will gome from the east with the mighty sound of the trumpet. In Matthew it says like the lightening flashes form the east to the west so will the comming of the son of man be.

No orthodox Christian denies that Christ will return to earth to bring final salvation for His people and judgment on the reprobate. What is debated, however, is the idea of a "rapture" that is separate and distinct from the "second coming". There are many different views on this. Many preterists do not expect a rapture as in "Left Behind" but simply one final return of Jesus.

This is one of those debates that should be kept between those of The Faith... as it dose not affect any ones Salvation one way or the other... I am absolutly firm in my position that The Church will be called to meet Christ in the air before the begining of the Tribulation period... but I do not mention The Rapture when speaking with non believers unless they bring it up... I stick to The Salvation Message.
