no, cos you would kill more of your own then the enemy, i mean look at the u.s military they killed more allied troops in friendly fire incidents then the enemy did, proof that short sighted ppl are a danger to your own side.

Selection as a sniper is based on several criteria... these include correctible vision, proficiency with a rifle, physical fitness, service record, rank and many others. And so someone who is mildly short-sighted might make it... however, since the competition for a snipers badge is fierce, it is unlikely that a candidate who needs corrective lenses to bring vision to 20 / 20 (or better) would be selected over a candidate with similar scores in all other areas but with “perfect” vision.

Unless your myopia is severe, there's no reason you couldn't do the job. Optics are amazing things. But selection for the sniper program is a different matter. Very competitive. Historically, the role of sniper was not appreciated in our armed forces, and when the practical need arose in wartime, the job usually went to the best shot in the outfit. Now the services have no difficulty with the concept, and the formal selection and training make for a different milieu.

No. Snipers need exceptionally good eyesight. The best telescope sight in the world won't help if you can't see where to aim it.
