Walgreens, at least they carry them on-line, call and see if they carry them in the store too:

or a medical supply open to the public

I found a good one as a nurseanesthesist here: http://www.stethoscopereviews.us/ I ended up with a Littmann Classic II which is basically the best stethoscope available, but still in the cost range of not being ridiculous either. My thing was buying the nicest one first so I never had to upgrade in the future. It's counter-intuitive but spending more once is cheaper than spending more twice.

Stethoscopes are as good as how much money you spend on them. If you bought a cheap one you probably are just hearing your own body digesting and you won't be able to hear anything much for probably another month if not longer. I had a Littman that was my mother's they are expensive and even I couldn't make out the baby all the time even in my last trimester. It's hard to pinpoint what to listen to and if the babe is not in the right position you'll end up trying to find a heartbeat in the babies foot. Bring your stethoscope with you to your next midwife/doc appt and ask them to help you find the baby and what to be listening for.

Yes, I used my horses stethoscope to try to hear the baby's heartbeat & was never successful, I eventually hired a doppler at about 28weeks to reassure myself when I needed to hear the baby's heartbeat occasionally which has been invaluable, I've only used it about 4 times in 8 weeks but it helps to put my mind at ease when I haven't felt the baby kick for a while & it's the middle of the night etc. The bubbles are probably your tummy or perhaps the baby moving around! Good luck :)

A lot of retail pharmacies carry stethoscopes, as well as Wal-mart's pharmacy area.

almost any uniform or medical supply store will have them.
You can get a cheap one for $10-$15, or buy a $70+ Littmann.
The Littmann's are good, but I got by with a $12 Sprague for years before trating myself to the Littmann.
The tubing on the Littmann seems to hold up better that the cheaper ones.

Any medical supply store open to the public sells them. You can get one for as little as $10 but they can be as much as $600. I would avoid the very cheapest ones though since they just don't work as well.
