How many lost souls are being punished in hell today?

The wicked will not be punished until after the judgment.
"The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished." 2 Peter 2:9.

Answer: There is not one single soul in hellfire today. The Bible says that God reserves, or holds back, the wicked until the day of judgment to be punished.

When will sinners be cast into hellfire?

Sinners will be cast into hellfire at the end of the world -- not when they die.
"So shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire." Matthew 13:40-42. "The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." John 12:48.

Answer: Sinners will be cast into hellfire at the great judgment day at the end of the world--not when they die. God would not punish a person in fire until his case was tried and decided in court at the end of the world. Nor would God burn a murderer who died 5,000 years ago 5,000 years longer than one who dies and deserves punishment for the same sin today.

Where are sinners (who have died) now?

All who have died, both good and evil, are in their graves awaiting the resurrection.
"The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28, 29. "The wicked is reserved to the day of destruction." "Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb." Job 21:30, 32.

Answer: The Bible is specific. Both the wicked and the righteous who have died are in their graves "sleeping" until the resurrection day.

What will happen to the wicked in hellfire?

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Revelation 21:8.
The wicked are not immortal. The Bible says they will "perish", "burn up" and "be destroyed".

Answer: The wicked die the second death in hellfire. If the wicked lived forever being tortured in hell, they would be immortal. But this is impossible, because the Bible says God "only hath immortality." 1 Timothy 6:16. When Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden of Eden, an angel was posted to guard the tree of life so that sinners would not eat of the tree and "live for ever." Genesis 3:22-24. The teaching that sinners are immortal in hell originated with Satan and is completely untrue. God prevented this when sin entered this earth by guarding the tree of life.

Bible Clear--Wicked Obliterated
The Bible says the wicked suffer "death" (Romans 6:23), will suffer "destruction" (Job 21:30), "shall perish" (Psalms 37:20), will "burn" up (Malachi 4:1), "shall be destroyed together" (Psalms 37:38), will "consume away" (Psalms 37:20), "shall be cut off" (Psalms 37:9), "shall be slain" (Psalms 62:3). God will "destroy" them (Psalms 145:20), and "fire shall devour them" (Psalms 21:9). Note that all of these references make it clear that the wicked die and are destroyed. They do not live forever in misery.

This is a difficult question to answer. In fact, on this side of eternity, we do not have all the wisdom and insight we need to fully answer it. But there are some scriptural considerstions that help us keep this question in perspective.
First, God Himself has promised that He will take away all pain and remove all our tears (Rev 21:4). It is in His hands. We can rest assured that God has the power and ability to do as He has promised. It is a fact that we will be happy in heaven. God has promised it.
Second, we will be aware of the full justice of God's decisions. We will clearly see that those who are in hell are there precisely because they rejected God's only provision for escaping hell. They are those to whom God ultimately says, "They will be done."
Third, we will recognize that there are degrees of punishment in hell, just as there are degrees of reward in heaven. This gives us an assurance that the Hitlers of human history will be in a much greater state of suffering than, for example, a non-Christian maralist (Luke 12:47-48).
God is perfectly wise and just. He knows what He is doing! You and I can rest with quiet assurance in God's wisdom and justice.

Hope this helps
Blessings: Kait

It would be their own choice. As Christians, we try to tell friends and family The Good News, but if they do not want to listen, then that is their choice, as is what comes afterwards. We do not want anyone to perish or go to hell, but what can we do if they go there running all the way/ How do we stop them? I have a whole family I would like to be with me in Heaven, but they will not listen. What do I do? I don't want them to go to hell, but what can I do or say to save them? In the end, it is their own decision.

In Greek Mythology, their version of heaven was called the Allaesian (probably not spelt like that!) Fields, but here the dead forgot everybody they knew in life specifically because they would not feel happy that their loved ones were still suffering in the world.

Maybe it is something like that?

When I'm in hell, I'll be feeling sorry for the poor souls in heaven having to put up with eternal harp music.

The BIble makes it clear, that there will be no crying or pain an the family menbers of those in hell will not be focused on anything other than giving praise to God, he will be the center of attention and there will be satisfaction in Him alone. as for the person in Hell, God is full of longsufering and mercy, and the person who rejects the mercy of God sends him/herself to hell, and there is none to blame. the real question we should be asking, is "Am I Going to heaven? let me ask you a few questions..........

Have you ever lied? stolen? looked with lust? used Gods name in vain? If you have said yes to these three questions, by your own admission your a lying thieving blasphemous adulterer at heart, and you have to face God on Judgement day. the BIble says "all liars will have there part in the lake of fire." and also says no blapshemer or adulterer can eherit Heaven. the BIble makes it very clear that your headed to hell, But God made a way for you to be forgiven, he sent his only son to suffer and die on the cross for your sins, if you will repent (turn from sin) and trut in Jesus, God will forgive you and you will know you have a place in Heaven.
God Bless

It suppose people in heaven are completly happy.

In other hand, being in Hell is not a punishment is the "way" of being after death chosen by yourself.

So how can your friends could be unhappy of the eternal way of living you had chosen?

No i'm no longer able to be satisfied understanding that. because of the fact of this I take the Christian hating in this web site. i desire even you to be in heaven. i desire you for a pal perpetually. I won't make me satisfied understanding all of us is in hell. Jesus will wipe those tears away nevertheless.

I think that when you get to heaven you recieve the knowledge of WHY.Why are we here,Why is there hate,Why do bad things happen? When you recieve that knowledge and understand GOD's plan, then you'll accept that bad people don't neccesarily go to heaven.I believe that Hell is just a place people go to to recognize the bad things they did in their lifetime and to realize that they deserve forgiving too.I believe that when they realize and get the point that GOD loves them then he brings them up to him.

,the relationship that we will have in Heaven will be completely different to what we experience while on earth, there will no longer be Husbands and Wives,Brothers and Sisters, but one complete family of God, and we will also be so completely happy that we will not know sorrow or regret, and as for those in Hell no matter what they were to us on earth will not effect our joy as we will fully understand that they chose to ignore God, and did not love Him as we do and that they fully belong where they chose to be.
