Dear 5 solas, I know exactly why, Its because were more concernd about not offending someone than teling them the truth. people want to water down the message so that people wont get uncomfortable and see the danger that their in. Listen to this quote from Charlse spurgeoun. "Ho Ho sir surgeon, your too delicate to tell the man that he is ill! therefore you flatter them, and what happens? they laugh at you, the dance upon there own grave and at last they die. your delicasies are cruelty, your flatteries are poison, you sir are a murderer. Shall we keep men in a fools paradise? shall we lull them into soft slumbers from which they shall awake in hell? shall we become helpers of there damnation? In the name of God we will Not!"
So, what should we do? we should instill the fear of God by using Gods Moral Law (Ten Commandments). we should use the Law t bring the kowledge of sin that the sinner may see the utter severity of there sins, and see the penalty for there sins (hell) is eternal. when they see there utter danger, they will then turn from sin and grasp the cure of the Gospel. Lets not be like the "emerging church", lsets use the Law as Jesus did, its not a matter of not "hurting someones feelings", its a matter of there eternal soul.
God Bless

They don't, they try to eliminate the fear of Church. The message is not changed, at least not in the Churches I have been involved in, I helped to start one Purpose Driven Church and now attend another one.
They are careful to not change the message at all, just the way it is presented. I have been more blessed in this type of Church in the last 10 years than in Traditional Church for 30+ years. I don't take away from traditional Church I think there is a place for it but I feel the Spirit move in Seeker sensitive (purpose driven) Church.
I think if you do a little research you would find that the main difference is that these Churches understand that all believers are to minister, not just the Pastors, and that all Christians shouls learn to use the gifts God gave them. It is a very wonderful experience to learn that you have a special place of service in Church, and it's not warming up a pew.
God Bless.

i'll in straight forward words communicate for myself. when I see human beings posting that others must believe or they're going to be in hell always, i'm getting aggravated. HOW do you get anybody to love anybody else... even God... if threats are used? I truly have not in any respect feared, yet continuously loved. Church isn't a progression... church is a collection of human beings getting jointly to hearken to and communicate God's note and that i not in any respect understood why this kind of large style of are somber and "perfect". I continuously idea it really is going to elicit smiles and happiness to benefit. Why might want to or not that is better like a chore than something exciting to do? If it really is a chore and worry is what drives you, something is erroneous. we are all accountable of being our unholy selves. lol some human beings do exactly a better ideal job of it! :)

They do not want to offend anyone, and in doing so they preach a candy coated gospel, which will not lead people to Heaven. I feel sorry for those people who get sucked in by them, but the Bible told us they would come. The Bible said that in the end times people would hate the truth, and want to hear what is pleasing to the ears. The preachers who preach this candy coated gospel are in for a rude awakening when they die, because the punishment for those who lead people away from the truth is far greater then the average person.
Jesus himself said that the Word is a two edged sword, and that he did not to bring peace but to divide the saved from the unsaved, the good from the evil, the wheat from the tares.

"the Fear of God" is NOT what we associate with pain and judgement as fear. The word in the origional Hebrew means Awe, and Holy Reverence. So, when the starter churches don't emphasize this, they are doing correct teaching. For God is Love, as we know, and in order to "fear" we must be introduced to God in the first place in order to have that "fear". Besides, does not the Proverbs 9 verse say that it is the BEGINNING of wisdom???

Because it's easier for them not to stay obbidient. Being obbidient means being accountable for your actions. And most of the seeker sensitive church just want to give the message that people like to hear. They throw away the verses of the bible that they don't like, and take what they like. What they don't realize is by making a god that suit to themself is called 'idolatry', and is atrasgression of Both the first and second of the 10 Commandments.

You have to remember two things my sibling. One the Bible was written in an ancient Language that has been through several interpretations, linguistically and culturally. The same word that means fear in one language can mean respect in another. In ancient times(and sometimes even today) people only respected that which they feared.
God loves us like a Father loves His children, and we need to Respect him.
Now the other thing is that Religions are what happens when entrepreneurs, and politicians, get hold of philosophy. They have businesses to run and need customers and constituents so they will say what they half to to get them in their doors. Sometimes God is able to use this to bring people into the Kingdom.

Because being "seeker sensitive" earns the capitalist pastor more money and bling-bling. Most "emerging" churches that pander to the masses are in it mostly for the money and not for the salvation of souls. In my book, they are not churches of Christ. The law has been established, and one must fear God!

God is the Father, not the babysitter. We do need to respect Him. It's the constant "If I do this I'll get punished" mentality that leads people from the church. I think that's what they're getting at.
