Lincoln also said:
"That I am not a member of any Christian Church, is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures; and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or any denomination of Christians in particular."

If God really exists, how could you possible say he has not yet forsaken this land? When Pearl Harbor was bombed or when the trade towers went down or even all the killing and violence that takes place in the streets everyday, how is that not forsaken? Luckily, that has nothing to do with god and it is human beings who do these horrible things. Why is that lucky - because we can stop it from happening, but it will be a long and clumsy journey.

Non-Lincoln "you won't be able to" citation those sentiments were created by the Rev. William J. H. Boetcker, who lectured round united statesa. about business family contributors contributors on the turn of the 20 th century. there is not any information linking them to Lincoln because the author. At one time President Ronald Reagan used them in a speech, wrongly attributing them to Lincoln. those who're conscious of Lincoln's writings, comprehend that those statements do no longer reflect Lincoln's "voice," nor can they be contemporary in any authentic Lincoln literature. .... to respond to your question, as someone who leans to the left sure I do believe that quote surely. Liberals do no longer pick to ruin the wealthy. Liberals also view authorities assistance classes as a secure practices internet in case you're down on their luck, no longer an eternal answer to poverty. Liberals understand finished properly that there needs to be some inequality, some motivation to artwork flat out, and some reward for fulfillment. that's truly a question of ways a lot.

I prefer to go with the words of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Ben Franklin, and James Madison. They were Deists and not Christians. Our forefathers did not mean for this country to be a Christian nation, but a nation of all religions. However people may twist this, it is not what was meant to be.

It might.
Considering that only 2/3rds of that equation (-intelligence) is being used in our current administration, it is safe to say that above christianity and patriotism, intelligence is the most important.

I agree with his later statement...
"My earlier views of the unsoundness of the Christian scheme of salvation and the human origin of the scriptures, have become clearer and stronger with advancing years and I see no reason for thinking I shall ever change them."

America has worked very hard to break her covanent with God. I suspect that this quote no longer applies to us as a nation, although individuals may still live by it if they wish.

No, it doesnt. I dont need Christianity or reliance on "Him"..... Good Ole Abe also said that blacks are inferior to whites - do you agree with that statement as well??
Times change. We have no need for religion in the world anymore. It is the biggest divider of mankind.

George Washington said
" I do not believe it is possible to properly govern a country without God and the Bible"
Some of our first leaders were MUCH smarted than those of today.
And they had backbone too.
