I don't know about the Church of God, but there are two things to look for if it's a cult. Does it have a charismatic leader who says he gets messages from God, and does it do things to isolate it's people from society, like refusing to socialize with non members. Many churches with do this someof the time. Like only baptised Christians can partake of communion, or a pastor might receive a revelation if there is conflict in the church, but to have both of these things as a lifestyle is what marks a cult.

Because all religions are cults (cult means belief system). Although if you mean it the way cult has been taken to mean over the past few years. I suspect that it has to do with the fact that they put no real effort into their religion. Church of God is the best they could come up with for a name. If they can't even do that then how in the world are they going to put in the work to come up with a set of beliefs that will convince me to hate the homosexuals and make me feel good about hating others.

Now, since I am a Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, minister, I have to ask:
Which "Church of God" denomination? There are at least seven denominations that simply identify themselves as "Church of God." And there are over twenty others that incorporate the phrase "Church of God" into their name.
So, which one is considered a cult?

I don't think it is considered a cult. A friend of mine is a church of God pastor. He is in full fellowship with Pentecostals, Baptists. Reformed, Brethren, etc. pastors. I've visited his church and could recommend it. I disagree with their ecclesiology (how they define "church", but then I disagree with the ecclesiology of many groups I consider to be evangelical - my view is more congregational (independent congregations). But that does not make anybody a cult.
EDIT:
As for Christy's remark, he would have to present proof to me before I would believe it. I can't help wondering if he is a rebellious teenager whose parents disapprove of some things he does - or whose pastor backs up his parents? Or who has possibly heard some uncharitable remarks made by adults to teenagers? In that lasat part, we can be at fault in all churches - nothing to do with being a cult.
In any church at all, you will sometimes come across some individuals who are "legalistic", saying everyone has to do things a certain way - but they do not necessarily represent the real teaching of their church.

"Cult" appears to be used as a generic term given to churches who's practices are either/or out of the mainstream, claims to be "the only true religion" and/or has extra-bliblical teachings. I don't know much about the Church of God faith to say whether or not it practises any of these things but thats is the general messure people use to determine a "cult"

I'm not sure. But I do know that a cult is considered a cult when it places more emphasis on it's founder then anyone else. With the exception of Jesus Christ because He's not of this world.

Quite possibly because the are so Exclusive.
They believe that ONLY THEY (their group) can and will get to heaven. All other Churches are is drastic error.
Certainly fills the requirements to be a Cult.

i'm a Presbyterian yet beleive we are united via concept in Jesus. Denominations advise some thing purely in the experience of United of concept. Denimoninations at the instant are not demons. except you are able to teach in any different case, i visit have a lot of difficulty accepting what you purely mentioned. i'm going to do study, yet this seems somewhat overboard pondering Jesus died for our sins. It seems such as you assert we are all going to hell in spite of if we settle for Jesus. Is that even obtainable? you may nicely be in spite of denomination, yet merely on account which you're a denomination does no longer advise you do no longer beleive Jesus died on the go for our sins.

All religions are cults. The most outrageous of the cults are called cults by the ones who deny they themselves are cults also.
