Repentance means to turn away from your sin. We usually lump confession and repentance together. You just talk to God. Confess your sin to Him and your desire to not do it again. There are sins we seem to find ourselves in over and over, but He knows your heart. If you truly want to stop, tell Him. He will help you through the process. Read Romans 7 around verse 20 I think. Paul laments the human condition, but ends it with hope.

The Bible says that repentance is not simply being sorry, But turning 180 degrees in the opposite direction and forsaking our sin.
I thought for many years that I was a good person, I went to church and read my bible and I knew the name of Jesus. Then I read where theBIBle says that not everyone who names the name of christ will enherit the kingdom of God, I was confronted with Gods Law (Ten Commandments) and I realized I was a lying thievng blasphemous adulterer at heart. I knew if I stood before God that day, I would end up in eternal Hell. I then understood why Jesus died, He payed the penalty for my sin by dying on the cross, for the first time in my life i thirsted after the rigteousness of Christ and I turned from my sin (repented), and I put my faith and trust in the savior, and I have been transformed. I have a new heart with new desires and I hate the sin i used to Love, and I have the assurance of eternal life.
God Bless

Repentance, is the surrender to the understanding that you acted selfishly against God's will. It is the acknowledgment of sin and the honest expression of the desire to discontinue such behavior.
According to Judea beliefs this followed by a pure sacrifice forgive the sins in the eyes of God. Thus according to Christ this and the acknowledgment of His supreme sacrifice on the cross and all sins are forgiven.(Christ is a Jew and our Messiah)

Roman Catholics repent by doing confession. Confession, as i understand it, is when you confess your sins to a preist and he tells you what you need to do to resolve your sin. the priest is obligated by law that he may not tell anyone other than god what the sin was. even if it was murder.
i repent by praying and telling god how badly i feel about my sins and what i plan to do about it.

repentance is asking God for forgiviness, but you muxt be sincere in your heart and must eliminate all evil thoughts from your mind and heart.
You get repentance by praying and sacrificing yourself to do things for others.
