There are several ways to reduce poverty. Some are ethical while others are not. Ethics does not invalidate a process. Ethics only makes a process undesirable. If the population is reduced without reducing other resources, poverty is reduced. If poor people work enough, poverty is reduced. If rich people give away money, poverty is reduced. If a society commits to Communism, for a little while poverty is reduced.
In short, there is no good way to reduce poverty. The most accepted means in this country is by education, work, and investments. Productivity means money. If you are productive you get money. Put another way, our society is based loosely on the you work then you eat, you do don't work then you don't eat concept.

There are a couple of things we could do that would dramatically reduce poverty.

Get the illegal aliens out of the country. They are a HUGE drain on the tax base. Without them sucking us dry there wold be more resources for those we intend our tax dollars for - AMERICANS. If you want to support criminals you can do it though private charities, they need to stop taking resources from our citizens.

The other thing that would make a huge impact is dealing with our drug problem. A large portion of our nations "poor" are that way because of making really bad choices, drugs being the most common of those bad choices.

The only way to reduce poverty is to make our nation as a progressive nation and to make it stand apart. And, it can be only possible, if we the youngsters go ahead and face the problems of our nation, otherwise we will be here only in next 20 years, where we are today.

We need to quit caring for other countries and worry about our own! Alot of money is sent overseas... we need to keep it here, and that goes for large corporations that outsource to other countries. Keep the jobs in the United States, that way people will have the opportunity to work and reduce the welfare lines.

Root out corruption from this country. I promise you, you'll see a superpower in the making. Corruption is the root cause of ill aspects of society. The basic mind set of the people has to be changed to achieve this.

Deliberate before taking each step.. Think whether your action will be beneficial atleast to one single individual and to your own self.

All of the millionaries (can you believe that there are over 2 million in the U.S. alone, let alone they aren't millionaires but MULTI-Millionaries!!!?) need to donate that money because they aren't going to use it for anything but another 8 cars they will never drive and another 48,000 sq. ft. house they won't stay at...wake up and smell the charity. Everybody could give a little more...no not everyone is a millionaire, but there are alot who do the best they can and do beat the system by cheating welfare...let's just help them out is what i say. God Bless!

We can't; the people who scrabble to the top have to stand on the backs of others.

That said, you, personally, can change others' lives with compassion. Give your time, give your effort, and give your love. Work for a charity which helps the impoverished and connect them to people and corporations with money.

Money comes and goes over a lifetime; a kind and compassionate soul makes one rich every day of one's life.

poverty is a syndrome resulting from weak thinking, lack of ambition to seeing sanity in our societries, lack of love for each other, lack of individual discipline, expectations from other achievers, poor political environment and above all geographical calamities.
so my friend, if you wish to eradicate poverty in your whichever country, look for solutions to the above causes.hard work to identify weapons to fight the monster is but one of the solutions.
