The Sony 828 is ancient. Sony replaced it with the R1, and even the R1 is now an end of life product.
The Canon EOS series can be just about any Canon SLR camera made since 1987. That's dozens of film and digital models, from entry level to professional. For the most part, they're worth their price, and all of them are better than the Sony 828. If you're thinking about a specific digital model, you can look up great reviews at these sites (they also list the Sony):

you are able to choose sport mode - I have a similar digicam and it hastens shutter speed so that you dont get any blurring. you actually do want a more beneficial lens though get one on ebay for under the keep value then promote it on ebay for a similar once you're finished with it!
