Well, Fiji may have a coup any day now, so stay away from there until that is resolved, but it is at the top of the list.
Bora Bora is nice, but you have to pay about $600 bucks to fly out of Tahiti to get there. In addition to the airfare required to get to Tahiti!
Right now, I would suggest Tahiti. Many of the hotels undergo maintenance between January and April, so make sure things are operational before you book!

I have been to both Tahiti (also known as French Polynesia) and Fiji. Bora Bora is a specific island in Tahiti.
In my opinion, both are wonderful places to visit. Both have beautiful cultures and beautiful peoples (I find the islanders to be kind and relaxed).
In my opinion, both are beautiful, but Tahiti has the edge. It is just SO beautiful. Both have lots to do (mostly water activities, food, resort spas, etc.). Fiji is also very beautiful, but there is no place like Tahiti. Bora Bora and Moorea are two very beautiful islands in Tahiti. However, our trip to Fiji was truly wonderful, so I can't say that one is better than the other except when it comes to natural beauty.
If you are able to take a cruise, this would allow you to visit more than one island easily.

All of the above! These are by dream destinations. Used to be Fiji, but I've heard so much about Tahiti that it's a real toss-up. If I had access to the ability to sail through the Fijian Islands, then I'd definitely go that route. But as long as you're in the area, stay a little longer and island hop!

We went to Fiji (Vita Levu) in early January. It was a beautiful place, and the people are wonderful but it rained a lot.
