christmas is originally a pagan holiday so technically there is nothing sacred about it, Jesus was born in april according to biblical scholars, so thats not it, the issue is some people just arent happy unless they are miserable and need to create or generate unecessary drama and negativity over trivial issues like xmas or get all irate over poor spelling and grammar issues others have, these people have not learned proper coping skills or conflict resolution so they have a feeling of decreased to no control in their lives so they instead project their inadequacies out onto the world and find something wrong to complain and moan about everyday, the classic sign is nothing is their fault and their lives will be so much better if it werent for other people and events happening, it is an utter lack of accountability that leads to this self induced hopeless helpless attitude and silly things like blowing up over xmas is a symptom

Because you "took the christ out of christmas", i however think this is extremely funny, as there hasn't been a christ in x-mas for a hundred years or so. They might as well call it "Giftmas", people barely know what it's about, and even nonchristians participate to buy each other gifts. it may be the sad truth but Xmas is a great term for what it's become.

I think it has potential to offend religious people because it's cutting out the "Christ" part of Christmas. Personally, I am an agnostic, so I purposely write XMAS instead of Christmas.
Just preference.

Historically, 'Xmas' was not intended to remove Christ from Christmas. The 'X' remembles the Greek chi, and the cross. 'Xmas' was used for economic reasons, to save printing costs.
However, today 'Xmas' is sometimes used to remove Christ, so it can be offensive, but one must look at the intent.

It offends some because it excludes the word Christ from Christmas. It should not matter because Christ was never in Christmas. Christmas is a pagan holiday that true Christians avoid.

Because people like getting offended at things that make them feel superior. The 'X' as short for 'Christos' is from ancient Greek and was used by early Christians.
But then again, some people are just pompous idiots.

Christians celebrate Christmas because of Christ. When people use the term X-mas they are taking Christ out of Christmas.

I suppiose because Christmas is supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ, but it's disrespectful to leave his name out. Never really bothered me though, but that's what i always hear.

Because they don't realize that X is the Greek letter chi which is the first letter of Christ in Greek and therefore it is merely an abbreviation--not an attempt to get rid of or belittle Christ.
