Rosaries are typically blessed by a deacon, priest, or bishop, so the Rosary would posess certain qualities that would be useful in warding off evil and in drawing closer to God.
The prayer is the most important part though, and many people pray the Rosary while engaged in activities that make holding one nearly impossible.
I usually carry a Rosary around with me in my pocket. I make full use of it when I can, and simply pray the prayers when I can't.
It works either way.

Good question I always use the beeds. It helps me keep track as to where I am during the decade and which decade. Praying the Holy Rosary is very powerful and is a smart way to get closer to Jesus.

The Rosary is merely a tool to help you keep track of your progress as you pray.
If an actual Rosary is not readily available, something as mundane as pocket change, fingers, whatever, can suffice just fine.
To suggest that one's prayer offerings are not as powerful due to the absence of an actual Rosary implies the Rosary embodies some sort of mystical power. This is not the case. the Rosary is a tool for use in worship, not the object of worship in and of itself.

Yes, you can say the Rosary without beads.
The string of beads (also called a rosary) is just a tool that can be used by anyone in prayer.
With love in Christ.

No if I don't have mine with me I just use my fingers to keep count. The beads aren't what matter...its the prayers that matter. I have a rosary ring that a friend gave me. It has one decade on it, I just say it 5 times. My daughter has a braclet with one decade. You can even make a rosary out of twine. Tie knots for the beads. Just keep prayin.
God bless,

The physical rosary is simply a tool, so you can remember where you are in the long litany of prayers that make up the rosary. It does not depend on the physical beads, it depends on your attitude and intenion in saying the prayers.

The beads keep our hands occupied so that we won't be tempted to pick up a Bible and read it. Lest we find out all of the unBiblical doctrines endorsed by Rome.
