Lately the area below my left eye twitches or spasms..so much so you can actually see it moving. I was wondering what kinds of things could be causing this to happen. Sometimes it spasms so much..I have to put my hand over that area just so people won't notice it happening.

Muscle twitching is the result of minor local muscle contractions or the uncontrollable twitching of a single muscle group served by a single motor nerve fiber or filament.

Muscle twitches are minor and often go unnoticed. Some are common and normal, while others indicate a neurologic disorder.

Common Causes
Benign twitches (not caused by disease or disorders)
Often affecting the eyelids, calf, or thumb
Normal and quite common, often triggered by stress or anxiety
A diet deficiency
Drug overdose (caffeine)
Drug side effect (such as diuretics, corticosteroids and estrogens)
Exercise

me too - it started getting really bad about 3 months ago, but for me it's the area under my left eye, and even some of the area over my left nostril

i've noticed that on days that i've gone with hardly any sleep, the spasms occur more. and on days after i've had at least 3 hours of sleep, the spasms aren't frequent at all. this past sunday night into monday, i slept 14 hours, and my first spasm after that (i noticed because i've already thought there was a link with sleep) was on tuesday night.

most of the time, my face has one expression. not a scowl, but near to it. however, when i tell stories, my face gets quite animated.

maybe the muscles are just getting tired - i dunno about you, but it sounds like its' time for me to hit the bahamas or something

Your face has muscles just as every other part of your body, and sometimes they spasm
