Evangelicals are primarily interested in evangelism. That is, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with an unbelieving world. Our beliefs generally fall into the following:

• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

• We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

• We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Not all evangelicals are fundamentalists, but most fundamentalists are also evangelical.

The reason we believe that most people are going to hell is because Jesus said this: "Go in through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is spacious that leads to destruction, and many people are entering by it. How narrow is the gate and how constricted is the road that leads to life, and few are the people who find it!" (Matthew 7:13-14)

Since my participation in this forum, I have discovered this to be true. The volume of people who flat out reject anything to do with Christ is huge, and their vehemence toward Him, and those who follow Him, is amazing.

Evangelical means one who spreads the word. An Atheist could be Evangelical as well as a Hedonist or an advocate for legalized prostitution. It is not strictly a religious term, though often applied that way.

An evangelical is someone who desires to obey the great commission:

Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick and heal them.
Mark 16:15-18

An evangelical puts special emphasis on the aggressive pushing of the Gospel on others. They beleive in Hell because they believe in the Bible. They believe in the Bible ... well, no one really knows why anyone does that.
