I have a 7 or 8 month old cat that can be a terror. She's been an indoor cat all her life............but she absolutely LOVES being outdoors! Anway, she LOVES ME. She goes wherever I go, she cuddles up to me at night, actually hugging my hand and arm when she lays down. She also frequently hugs my leg durring the day. She litterally puts her paws around me and hugs. Goofiest cat I ever saw. The problem is, she also has times that her eyes all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, shoot fire, her ears go back, and she ATTACKS my arm and hand. I mean, she latches on with all her might and bites and scratches me! I never fight with her or tease her to instigate any of this. On the other hand, my husband does play with her in those ways. BUT, she doesn't attack him like that! She attacked me so bad yesterday that she drew blood with her scatches AND bites on my hand and arm. Needless to say, she is now in the outdoors that she loves so much. What is her problem?? Any ideas?

No......she's not playing........she is suddenly MAD and FIGHTING! I have had cats all my life, but this one is way different than I've ever had! She's psycho, but she's also very funny, mischievous, sneaky, wild, crazy, sweet............... Maybe she has multiple personalities?!? =O Ha! No, she hasn't been neutered yet.........she's on the waiting list. If it's hormones, she has MAJOR homones! I'll hate to see her in a few years going though menopause!! =O

That's kinda funny to me cause I can say the exact same about my cat. He's my best friend, I swear he thinks he's a person, he also gives me hugs. He can be the most loving cat but in a split second will turn on your for no reason and start w/ the scratching and biting but not in a playful way. If you get any advice that helps you please let me kow so I can try it with mine. He wouldn't happen to be an orange cat would he? I've been told they're famouse for this kind of behavior.

Is your husband using his hands and such as toys for her when he plays with her? If so, she has learned that hands are toys, and you can hunt hands. It's possible she just wants you to play with her, or it's possible she considers herself closer to your husband than you are and sees you as a threat.

Think of the occasions when she gets "psycho". Is there anything linking them together? Has she been sleeping and been really calm beforehand? Is it when you and your husband are close together (no gutter-minding, folks)? This can often offer you a clue as to why she has this behaviour. It's quite possible being indoors doesn't give her the mental and physical stimulation she needs to not be bored, because it can be boredom that sets her off, too. I don't know how it is with you, but I can get ready to attack something if I'm bored out of my mind with nothing to do.

For her own safety, and to prevent unwanted kittens, I suggest you spay her. This can also get her to calm down. You will also, of course, have to be consistent in how you react to her attacks, and not in any way give the impression that it's okay to do so. Try distracting her with a ball or toy mouse or something else she wants to catch. If she persists, push her away when she tries, maybe tap her lightly on the nose, while saying no. If she continues, grab her over the shoulders and press her down onto the surface she's on (floor, usually). Not too hard, just enough to hold her there. When she calms down, you can let her go. She'll learn in time that biting is not allowed.

If you allow her in bed, there's another toy too. Move your foott or your hand under the covers. Our kitten loves this. Just be careful to never do it without using some sort of cover.

I hope you manage to stop her from being so aggressive. =)

she could just be playing. i have a semi psycho cat. she's okay at home but very temperamental. if she doesn't want you to pet her, she won't let you. but she demands attention when she wants it. one time, she had an eye infection of some kind. we took her to the vet and the vet took her in the back to try to look at her. she tore all over the place, ripped someones arm open, knocked over a bunch of stuff. they had the thick gloves on and tried to wrap her in a towel etc. three people could not hold her down. i was listening to this in the room, cringing. the vet brought her back to me in one of those clear plastic boxes with a lid on it, set her on the table and told me they couldn't look at her unless we would let him anesthetize her. not sedate, anesthetize. it was insane.

Maybe she thinks that you are playing with her like your husband is. My cat does the same thing, you can be calmly petting him and then he'll turn into a heathen. I don't know why and I don't know how but good luck to you.

yeah, she's a psycho cat for sure........has she been fixed? If not do it, it might help calm her down. If she is already she still might calm down as she gets older....

your husband is her mate and you are her rival. is she fixed??
if not--DO IT. she will most likely calm down after her hormones settle out.
try to speak with her to get her to be gentle with you--she knows the difference--just not the words, yet--be patient with her.
GET HER FIXED
