I wear spandex because it's flexible and doesn't irriatate my flesh when I bend and twist during resistence training. I get laughed at by other gym members and was even told by security there I need to come back with 'proper attire'. Um, body spandex helps me and isn't against the law so who are they to tell me what I can and can't wear?

Should I take legal action against this for discrimination?

Hmnmm. Switch gyms. It doesnt sound like a very pleasant place. You should be able to wear spandex. They ARE proper attire for working out. Don't take legal action though, it not worth it.

spandex is an 80's mistake. it may not be against the law, but read your contract you got from the gym, or if you are casual you will find that just passing under the doorway means you accept policy.

wear shorts, they do not irritate at all, so you cant use that argument. you just enjoy the spandex rubbing your sword

That's horrible. I know here in California there are places that are so strict now about no making fun of members, and not even anything like grunting while lifting or they'll be escorted to the door.

Find a new gym and check out their policies. You're obviously going to GET HEALTHY! And this place is not working for you.

OKAY FORGIVE ME BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.....
Dude - take the spandex off - or wear shorts over it.
No one wants to see either (a) your boys or your friend, and (b) if you are not already physically fit - no one wants to see a stuffed sausage stretching out and bending.
If you are physically fit - I would have to assume that (a) is the main reason they would rather you wear "appropriate" attire.
