Very easy to learn. They have "language in 10 minutes a day" books in the book stores...that can help you learn French. The computer courses are great too.
French doesn't have too many hard to make sounds and we have the same alphabet so you'll do just fine.
Good luck!!!

French, like ANY other foreign language requires time and dedication to learn. There are some aspects of French which are more difficult than, say, Italian or Spanish. But there are also some aspects of French which are easier than Spanish.

A language is only as easy or hard as the learner makes it. If you feel an affinity to the language, then learning it will be easy for you.

I took 3 years of French in school and 2 years of Latin. I lived in Germany and learned a good amount of German. I lived in Mexico and taught myself to speak Spanish.
French is by far, the most difficult of all the languages I have tried to learn. I would spend some bucks on a real live French-speaking teacher.

The use of reflexive verbs ("he gets himself out of bed") caused me some trouble, as reflexive verbs have almost dropped out of English. The prepositional phrases are different, and the idioms can take a long time to learn - but if you don't know the idioms, you won't be a fluent speaker. I still don't know how to pronounce Valois or Bois, and French uses more dipthongs with more nasal action. But it's relatively easy to learn to read, and French literature is really great. Check out Charles Beaudelaire in translation.

It is very close to English and easy to learn. I love French! Grammar is super easy, but i recommend a tutor or cassettes for pronunciation/speaking.. The ironic thing is that that is what i like about French-pronunciation is absolutely beautiful.

French is one of the easiest languages to learn. I took one year of french and can still speak fluently. Online would be good and going to a class would be the best.
