Nothing will keep kitties out of the tree. It's just in their DNA. Kitty proof the tree and hope for the best. Don't spray water. I tried that with my cat and she pooped all over the house to get me back. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I have a kitten that literally climbs on and in EVERYTHING. She was knocking stuff off of shelves. I went to a pet store and bought a spray that is in a red can. Can't right now remember the name of it and I'm not at home so I can't check. I sprayed some of it on a small area and found that it does not damage surfaces. It has a light odor that cats hate. Ask the people at Petco or most any pet supply store for a spray the keep pets off of furniture. It needs to be renewed after a few days but one can should last the whole season.
It is a very fine mist and goes on and stays colorless.
The bell idea is cute! But unfortunately, my cat loves them!

I truly have canines and what I did is construct a a million a million/2 foot stand to save it off the floor. i do not recognize how this may artwork with cats, despite the indisputable fact that it would want to't harm. The tree skirt works properly with the stand too.

Try spraying a mint or peppermint spray on the bottom of the tree or laying out some strong peppermint candles around the tree. Cats hate the smell, it is to potent for their sensitive noses, you'll also get the added bonus of a minty scented room.
I use it every year, and it keeps both our cats away. :O)
Apple bitter works as well and both scents are Vet approved tonot be harmfull

Try spraying the tree with a mix of Tabasco or chili powder and water, my cat doesn't like the smell. I also put aluminum foil under the tree because she doesn't like walking on it, could be because the crinkle. You can also try propping up soda cans inside the trees lower branches. When it gets to the tree, the soda cans will fall and might startle it.

I am interested in answers to this question also. I was going to say hang it from the ceiling, but kittens would figure out a way to still get in the tree. Good luck!

We put bells around the boughs of the lower branches so the cats don't get in them. The sound does scare them and usually keeps them out of the tree.

Sprinkle red pepper flakes around the base of the tree. I guarantee that will work. It did for me.
