Long hair, straight, sometimes braided--early 70's. Later in the 70's there was a shoulder length cut that was flipped up on the ends.
Farrah Fawcett was a product of the '80's not the 70's.

All you have to do to see the 70's style is watch That 70's Show or Charlie's Angels.

The 70's was a strange era for hair.
Men wore their hair long, and slightly
over the ears.
Women had their hair cropped and
wore wigs.
Many of the wigs were teased upward,
and looked like a "bee hive."
When they had to go out, they just threw
on a wig.
Women who didn't like wigs, had their
hair styled in a "flip look."
The only girls who wore long hair were
teenagers.
This is the best I can recall.
Hope it helps.
PS
The "dry look" was in for everyone,
which made hair spray a must.
Nobody wanted to use that "greasy kid
stuff."

Farrah Fawcett flip style. Think old skool Charlie's Angels, circa 1977.

basically every hairstyle that is being worn today.
- feathered hair
- sleek straight hair
- farrah fawcett look (layers of huge side-swept hair)
- long loose curls (think jessica simpson's disco party hair from public affair)
- bowl cuts (think john travolta's "saturday night fever" days)
- shaggy hair/wings haircut (you see this on every hot guy in the mall)
