It is a great car, reliable and good. One of the best deals in the market. I have friends who have that car and they are happy and they don;t feel that they have paid a lot of money as it happens with other cars.

Don't know if it's a 2002, but a friend of mine has a Ford Focus and he says it's the best car he's ever owned (and he has owned Hondas and Toyotas in the past). Don't buy into the lie that a car has to be Japanese or German to be reliable. The Big Three have really closed the reliability gap over the past 15 years, but because of biased agencies like Consumer Reports (you'll NEVER see an American car rated tops by CR) people still think American cars are junk. Not true. My advice to you: Test-drive it and see what you think.

my girlriend has a 2000 ford focus and i drive it all the time. i think they are great little cars. they get good gas milage. about 25-27 and they look pretty sharp too. she hasnt had any mechanical problems with it (except when she hit a deer) but that wasnt the cars fault and she got it fixed right away. they are easy to maintain and have alot of interior room... and a big back seat if you know what i mean! plus there is alot of trunk space. you could probably fit 2 dead bodys back there. they handle good and have quite a bit of speed if you need it. i got it going 110. which is great for a stock four-banger. Plus they are american made!
I think you would do great with a focus. (they are better than rice burners)
Otherwise buy a truck
GO FORD!!!

They are nice little cars, but have a long history of recalls and so-so build quality. They do offer a nice blend of ride and handling, and seem peppy enough when pushed. If you are financing this car, you will immediately be upside down as they depreciate quickly. Toyota or Honda are the way to go, even if they are a little older.

For me at this age and moderate wealth it wouldnt be big enough. Had it been availabel when I was younger and poorer it would have been a great lifeline to the outside world.
