No, the Bible does not state this, but there are some religions that choose to read "modest dress" as being literal, that a woman should wear a dress at all times.

There was a time period when wearing a dress set a woman apart from men, but by today's standards, that is not always the case. A woman can still be christian and wear pants, but she must consider how her appearance will be looked upon while in a place of worship. If you are in "God's house" you should always dress appropriately.

The Bible says that women are to dress modestly, and not in men's clothing.

Some took this to say that women should only wear skirts. But what is really saying is they should dress modestly, no cleavage showing, skirts to the knees, dress slacks, even good clean jeans are acceptable. Some people may judge you if you wear jeans, but they are being religious, and God does not approve of that.

No it doesn't. And in today's world I no longer find people who believe Christian women must wear skirts. There is a text in Deuteronomy saying men and women shouldn't wear each other's clothes - is it a moral precept against tgransgenderism? or is it a levitical law like not eating pork? I honestly don't know how to interpret that one.
In any case, in a time when it was rare for women to wear pants, many Christians, who tended to be conservative in their outlook, felt it must be wrong for a woman to wear pants - and that text was used to justify their view.
In general you will not find Evangelical Christians in the forefront of styles - but they don't need to be "way back there" either.
We evangelicals have generally asked for relatively modest wear among both men and women, out of consideration to members of the opposite sex, and in order to enhance their testimony as well.

it does not say we must wear skirts it says men are to dress as men and woman as woman. crossdressing if forbidden. back when this was written men wore a specific type of robe that was disinctivly different. women were not allowed to wear them. and men were not to wear womens rober. nowadays the verse means women should not wear anything that would cause others to confuse them fr a man. we can wear pants and such but we not have a mans haircut and we are not to wear cloths made for men.

Absolutely not. It's man writting doctrine. Another form of control and keeping women surpressed. The bible does speak of women not wearing men's appareal and vice versa..... and who wore paints in the days that the scriptures where written?.........I asked my pastor but he said he wan't there so he couldn't answer it. it's hog wash and not nearly as important as salvation.

It says men must not dress like women and women must not dress like me.

Now - if you go back to that time, pretty much NO ONE was wearing pants.

Wake up, Jesus looks on the heart, not how you are dressed. Those type of 'rules' come from men.
