I would prefer not to get into the physical aspects.

However, the experience itself was that I woke to find myself in a dimly lit cave, though the light source wasn't obvious (I didn't see a fire or candles). The cave continued all the way in both directions to the limits of sight. I was sitting on the stone floor and saw a large wolf easily my size sitting next to me that I immediately recognized as Fenrir Wolf of Norse mythology. Without a word, I reached up and placed my hand on his shoulder, and he wrapped his paw around my arm to return the gesture. That was it. We never said a word, but there was a clear invitation to return whenever I needed.

I've since gone back, but thankfully not via the auspices of nearly dying, the other times have been by choice and out-of-body projection.

Despite this, I don't believe Fenrir actually exists; I remain an absolutely certain atheist. I also don't believe I have a soul that actually leaves my body, but OBE still remains the best term for the sensations the experience causes. Ultimately, it's all just shoving the brain into a seriously altered state of functioning.

I once had a kidney stone and ended up in the hospital. I think that was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life.

They told me that I had to wait for some specialists to come in later that day and break up the stone with laser. They gave me morphine and I was happy but I started to get really tired so I fell asleep.

Next thing I know I open my eyes, Im in another room...there are all kinds of things connected to me and there is about way too many doctors or nurses over my head.

Aparently Im allergic to morphine. It slows down my breathing and my heart but to me it feels like Im crazy tired and I want to fall asleep and I do go to sleep but everything continues to slow down to a stop. Eventually my heart stops beating and I stop breathing and thats it.

Only they caught it quick. My entire chest and back was black and blue from I dont know what they did to make my heart beat. When I got out of the hospital it was like I was a brain dead crack addict for another week at home.

If you want to know what it feels like when your dead...it doesnt feel like anything at all. There was no light, none of that. Its just darkness, you dont hear anything, you dont remember anything if you come back.

i took a 38 spcl round in the shirt pocket. nicked my heart. it hurt so bad, i let go. it seemed i was hovering over my body watching people work on me. then it got dark and warm and peaceful. i have never known peace like that, before or since. i "rested". then i started thinking about my life and was afraid of going to hell. i had to fight to get back to my body. i guess you could call that as near to death as i ever want to be. even the Dr. told me that i was going to die. i sure fooled him

I haven't but I've spoken to people whom have and they've described loved ones, bright lights, many mansions, green pastures, and even described flowers and music. Many of these people were mentally sane medical patients assigned to my mother. Others were teachers and friends of mine.

Haven't had one, but have done extensive research on the subject. It has caused me to stop fearing my own mortality.
