Believe it or not, most people make the right choice most of the time. But when we choose to do ill, we choose to punish ourselves...God doesn't punish us.
The only alternative to free-will is God forcing us to do His will. That is slavery. Slavery is not something created out of love.

If Daddy gives you a new car and you choose to run your borthers and sisters over with it, should Daddy just let you keeping mowing them down with your car ?
Should Daddy correct your brothers and sisters for complaining about the injuries that they have suffered because you choose to run them over with your car ?
Yes, God gives us the power of choice and freedom of will but that does not mean that the kind of person we choose to become has to be allowed into heaven.
If we choose not to cooperate with God in developing a beautiful character before we die, is it right to force Him to accept us into heaven where everyone there will be self-sacrificing and self-controlled ?
What about the free will of those who choose to have a character like that of Jesus Christ ? Should they be forced against their will to live with those who reject God and Jesus ? Is that fair ?
Selfishness is the cause of all the sorrow, suffering and sadness in our world and those who choose not to conquer it by God's grace are placing themselves out of hamony with Him and every one who loves Him.
Sin and selfishness must meet their final punishment but not in any eternal burning hell fire as is falsely taught by so many and found no where in the Bible.

This is a common misconception. There is no idea expressed in the Judaic or Christain religions of "free will". You either accept the teachings and their doctrine or you die. Thats it. This idea of free will came from philosophy and was grabbed by religious leaders as a way of making people responsible for their actions, thus eliminating the doctrine or the religion from any responsibility. Christianity, Islam and Judaism contain doctrine, teachings, text, authority and explanations, not free will.

Man invented free will to explain why the creations of the perfect God- which man also invented -were not perfect. But the concept utterly fails.
A perfect God only CAN create perfection or he loses his perfectness. A perfect creationn with free will can never make a wrong choice, or loses its perfection.
Either that or there can never be a wrong choice.

We are not punished for using our free will. We are punished when we use our free will to harm others.
Are you saying that your daddy should not punish you if you decided to use the car he gave you to go drag racing?
I use my free will on a daily basis to decide to be loving and kind to others instead of being selfish and hateful.

Human (free) will hates God. People on earth stray to the most godless locations, to experiment with sin, and try to justify their love of sin with the notion that God gave man free will to sin without consequence. We all must turn from free will (which works against us) to find God's will, and then we can begin to touch happiness, among other good things.

There the likeness is flawed.
Daddy might say, "Drive this car and IT may result in death." but daddy will NEVER say, "I will kill you"
God only wants to give good gifts and only has your best interest when He warns us in His word.
Punishment is reserved for the devil and his followers, it was never meant for people. Only by rejecting the good news does one place himself or herself in jeopardy of punishment.
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live! Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey him and commit yourself to him, for he is your life.

We all stand condemned before the Lord from birth, and we merit nothing but punishment anyway, Psalm 51:5. There's your explanation. Get in the car.

Yes we have the gift of free will.We are not punished for using
the gift He also gave us a road map- the Bible to live by. How you chose to use the gift is up to each of us. use it for good and you will be in the will of God.and will live and die in eternal peace --
chose to live a sinful life without God in your life you will end up in a very nasty place. It is the will of God that no one should perish.

It's not about punishment it's about the rewards for choosing wisely, our only pre-destiny is the obstacles we face in life, all of us have them we just don't see what other people's look like, it's all in how you run the course, and how you handle adversity defines your character. In the end will you look back and be proud of what you did or will you be ashamed of it?
