It won't affect behavior in any negative way, but you have to realize that "violence" is actually the survival instincts that human beings have had for 300,000 years or more. People try to suppress it, and all it does is lead to more crimes and murders.
Violent movies are pretty dumb. Like, the Chlid's Play series... I watched that growing up, and slept in the middle of the movie, and you know how I turned out? 6'7'' tall freakin teddy bear, that's what I am.

It does effect the behavior!!! Not neccasarily the actions of people, but the reaction (at least internal.) The constant viewing of violent movies and such dulls the response. The first time you watch, it's disturbing, the more you watch, you tollerate it, then you like it, then you have to have it. Eventually, Movies aren't enough to entertain you. You look for more violent things to entertain you. Eventually, you start having a violent behavior for entertainment, not really murder or anything that drastic, but you deffinately do become a more violent person.

Affecting behavior? Tough to say. I know that I have been physically affected after watching very violent movies (tingly, almost detached from my body). But I watched violent cartoons when I was a kid and I'm the least violent person you know.
I think depictions of violence, just like depictions of sex, do mold what is socially acceptable in people's minds. Thus, people blowing stuff up, shooting others in the face, or getting into fistfights with no consequences (or positive consequences) shape people's thoughts about acceptable reactions to conflict (whether micro-, such as in a bar brawl, or macro- such as in our response to a claim of weapons of mass destruction in a foreign country). Thus, I think violence in media doesn't "cause" people to be more violent, but it may cause people to believe that violence is more acceptable. Small, but important, distinction.

I don't believe that for the majority of people, violent movies have any effect on behaviour. I have watched plenty, and it hasn't changed my behaviour, even though I watched them all the time as a teen.
However, there are some, more suggestible, and perhaps psychologically less balanced individuals who will respond by mimicking or changing their behaviour. These people are always the minority, but they do exist. They become so desensitised to the violence that they struggle to separate reality from fantasy.

I dont think that is true at all. You are responsible for know the difference between reality and fantasy (movies, videogames, etc.) and for knowing the difference between right and wrong. People these days just look for a way to blame anyone but themselves. I.E bringing a lawsuit against the fast food industry b/c you have gotten fat or suing the tobacco industry b/c you have to breath through a tube.

YES! Seeing violence repeatedly numbs the mind to it. That's why our culture is so violent now. Kids are seeing this stuff all the time and are just immune to even the most graphic violence. I watch so little that when i do see it, it horrifies me. I can't believe human beings who can just sit there and watch others be all torn up and not be shocked. What a sad sad world.

i believe it could. when i was a kid i would act like a karate expert after watching the karate kid and it made me want to chop away.
now, when i watch movie like the hills have eyes or hostle it creeps me out to think that there could be people like that in the world. it doesnt make me want to be a violent person at my adult age, it just makes me more careful and aware of the dangers in the world.

They've shown that thousands of exposures to depictions of violent acts has made children more aggressive and desensitizes them to violence. I don't think it has that strong an effect on adults.
