Well, if a friend of mine would tell I was unworthy of his friendship, I would of course try harder. I would try to convince him that I am worthy. I would worship the ground he walks on. I would never doubt him, shout to the whole world that everything he says is the Truth, that he is always right...I would defend him against reason and logic, i would try to convert others to become his friend as well, because he truly is the best friend ever!

See? Wen you bring these things back to a normal human level it all of a sudden makes so much sense!

(I'm scared as hell that there even will be a few Christians out there who will give this answer a huge thumbs-up...sigh)

Cool nickname by the way.

The God that I believe in doesn't want us to think of ourselves as unworthy.

The God I believe in has given us "every spiritual blessing" as Paul wrote in Epheisans 1:3. Not just some but every spiritual blessing.

The God I believe in wants to save everyone He can. "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance," as Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:9.

The God I believe in sent his only son to die in the most painful way as possible to try to save us. The God I believe in is a God of second chances. There was a study that showed that most of the people in the Bible messed up and ended badly. David committed adultery and had her husband killed, so God did punish him and his family, but then welcomed him back when he sincerely repented. Yet God looked at his heart and that he is "a man after God's own heart."

When the soldiers arrested Peter, he ran away and denied even knowing Jesus. After the resurrection, Jesus went to find Peter who had become so ashamed he went back to fishing. Jesus restored him back to ministry and he became the head of the early church.

Paul used to mock and kill Christians and was just an all around bad guy but then God saved him and he went on to write most of the New Testament.

I'm a Betty Page fan too. Did you know she eventually became a Christian? God is there for the people who aren't perfect much like me.

We are not worthy of God. But those who are saved in Jesus Christ have been given the kingdom- so this means God loves us more than we could ever imagine! Why would God suffer on the cross? All that pain? And he died and HE DID rise again on the 3rd day, defeating death (Mark 9:9, Matthew 28:7)

-Nobody is worthy of God Almighty- we have all been born into sin- we all fall short of HIS glory- Romans 3:23
God is the only perfect one- He is Holy- He made us to worship and serve Him- and He blesses those who love Him- He takes care of those who trust Him. He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him-2 Samuel 22:3 and Psalm 18:12

-Am I worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven? No way! God is by far greater than I! And yet HE loves me enough to have died in my place- so that I could live!? I dont deserve that! No one does! I love Him too much that I cannot express my love for Him- but that I am so greatful He has given me life through Him- such a gift that I could never imagine having. And the icing on the cake is He loves me! And gives me Joy! And has given me a new heart- a heart that wants to please Him because I know how good He is!

To those who are living for the Lord and saved through Jesus Christ it says:
2 Thessalonians 1:5
All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

God made us in his image and loves each of us very much, but we are unworthy to complete our entire purpose without him. You can live a life of luxury, be ultra successful, and have everything you everything you ever wanted on earth. But, we are unworthy to move past this life without God.

It is not so much that you are unworthy as that you fall short of God's standard. We deserve to be punished for our wrong-doings; but God decided someone else would pay for us. That seems to suggest that He likes (loves) us a whole lot!!

First off, i would like to ask. What makes you think that its what he wants us to feel? Maybe the fact that we are unworthy pains him. Which if you are talking from a biblical point of view then it would be supported since he sent his son to die for us so that we may become worthy.
If your not coming from a biblical point of view then why would you think that God wants us to feel unworthy.

Those are not the words of God who loves us. Those are the words concocted by religious leaders who falsely taught us how to humble ourselves towards our creator so they can put us in guilt always and be able to control our minds.
God loves us and wants us to be free from those ignorance. The Free Will given to us shall enable us to choose the path of life we want to go through. He gave us His blessings for all the righteous thing we do and He will curse us for the wicked thing we make of ourselves. We then create our own fate. False teachers or prophets will tell you about divine design and we seemed to have no choice but that is contrary to the real God who created us.
He may have something to do with the thing happening in the world that we do not want or like but that is only the result of all that wickedness most people have done. But like the story of Jonah in Nineveh all of the worse thing that may happen to us can be averted by going back to our senses and start doing what is right for ourselves and for the world. In the end we will realized that it is not God after all that destroy or make the world a peaceful place to live in but us. Make Him the center of our lives not just by gluing our knees down all the time or uttering repetitive words of adorations but also by enhancing and taking care of all the resources he gave on earth. Obey all His commands written in the Book of Laws handed down at mount of Horeb.

I'm an Atheist, but I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that if follower's of god didn't have a complex about being unworthy, then they would see the fault in their belief...

Just a thought. No offense.

I think God is trying to level the playing field as it were. He's trying to get us to see that we, as humans, are all the same, equal to each other. No one is better or greater than anyone else. God does not want us looking at ourselves and our own accomplishments because it causes us to pass judgement on ourselves, our own worth, and on others, what other people are worth compared to ourselves. It is something alot of people tend to fall back on anyways. Our example is Jesus, he did not go around sulking about himself, he went around trying to help those who were less fortunate, because he could see that their worth was the same as anyone else. We are not so much to think of ourselves as unworthy as we are to think that everyone is of the same worth to God. ;o)
