I find it very hard to buy for guys for some reason. In past years I've done clothes, jewelry and some electronics, but I can't think of anything to get them this year. This will be my first Christmas ever away from my family, and I'd like to make it special for them. Please help!

This is difficult because you have said nothing about them other than their gender. We men are different too. One thing we all have in common we all need to shave, and the 17 year old is just getting started. So, I would suggest matching father and son traveling shaving kits, the kind that come in leather zipped up poaches.
Men never buy these for themselves but are always glad to have them. Especially for trips away from home, in case they come out to see you where you are.( Just remind them not to put them in carry on luggage if they fly.) P.S.
If you include an after shave or cologne, anything but BRUTE. Ever since Eddie Murphy nothing says I just bought something with out thinking about you like BRUTE from FRABREGE'

Gift cards are great! Watch out - get them from the customer service dept. of the store. Some people have been getting the numbers off the cards that are out on the racks in the stores and if they get activated (by u -if u buy one) they can use it!

Have you thought about a subscription to their favorite magazine? They would get a new one every month so it would be like the gift that keeps on giving.

I got my husband one of those motion activated wildlife cameras to use in the woods at his hunting area. We live in the country so it will be good for him.

In my opinion, it doesn't have to be material things that you can give to your son and husband;) Just letting them know that you really love them is enough^^
