Get a faster CD drive or processor and maybe more RAM.

That depends on the hardware and software. First make sure that you have a fast reading CD player (maybe up to 48x). Next make sure that you are using software that is capable of fast CD ripping. MusicMatch Jukebox has proven effective for me in ripping CD's and encoding them into MP3. I've read that the purchased version (as opposed to the free version) is even faster. Try it to see if you like it.

Only three things you can do:
1. Convert at a lower quality (bit rate)
2. Add more memory to your PC
3. Get a faster PC (with more memory)
