what gives? why are they acting all retarded like a 14 year old internet forum poster? is sweden a nation full of people who can't spell to save their lives?

Many of the words are in Swedish.

Absolut, peppar, kurant, citron, are all ordinary swedish words, although not always applied to what you'd expect. kurant doesn't mean currant, vinbär does, but I guess nobody in the US could spell or say vinbär properly - kurant means healthy, so it's actually a bit of a multilingual pun.

No it is to create a trademark and protect their specific infusions. Companies often change spelling to distinguish themselves in the market place. It is a marketing strategy.

Because it's more of a pronunciation thing. The e in absolute is silent so why no leave it off making absolut.
