I am agnostic I used to be an atheist, I have friends who are of VERY different religious backgrounds some are Pagan some atheist, Spirtiualists, and a few Christians... well, the only people who try to force me to believe in what they believe are the CHristians all the others are cool with my (lack of) beliefs
I just would really like to know why ya'll Christians try to push your beliefs onto us nonChristians... I'm just saying and besides telling someone their going to a hell they don't even believe in is kinda pointless... and like I've said I'm a pyro I can handle flames..

they honestly believe that it is their job to try and "save" you.

i know because when i was very young i was a christian. although i have to say that i wasn't nearly as pushy as some people that i've seen on here.
i would mostly try to get people to go to church with me (which is equally annoying).

now i just say no when people start trying to tell me things.

I don't agree with 'forcing' anyone into God. God will deal with each person according to His will, not mine.

The reason why they would do this is because they believe what God will do to those that reject Him. They know that they have the truth and have a sense of urgency about those they care about.

What most Christians fail to see is that God does not want everyone. Only those chosen by Him even have the reciever.

Taking the step from Atheism to Agnosticism, in many cases, is a step to bravery. I was an Agonostic, because I thought that I wanted there to be a God who could cause me to live after this life, but could not honestly say that I believed in Him. Since I took that step of faith, He was revealed to me, andI don't have to wonder any more about His existence.

So try to understand that they really might see something in you that inspires them to preach to you the truth about God, and the reason why we all don't see Him. God may be waiting for you to test Him, so that He might reveal Himself to you and prove Himself to you. If that happens, know that you are one of His children fromthat point on, and His promises are for you to enjoy being a part of His heavenly kingdom, not for those that preach to you to glory about, but for the Glory of the Father.

That's not exactly true. Muslims are also very aggressive, and historically used force to spread their religion even more than Christians did. But Buddhists do not proselytize at all. They feel a person will come to Buddhism on their own when they are ready. That's a concept I admire.

First, Christianity isn't the only religion that does that, there are a couple others. Second, its a misinterpretation of the Great Commision. The GC says "...go out an spread the word..." It says nothing about pushing, question, badgering, or annoying people. Besides, in the Bible, it makes many references to the fact that salavation should be spread, not forced.

I stand at the door to your heart and knock, not, I knock at the door to respect your freedom of choice, but excert my authority as your supreme being by coming in anyway.

We are his all sheep, and he is our shepard, not, we all are stray dogs and he is our pound.

Go out and spread the message of salvation, not, go ye out and conquer peoples, lands, and nations in my name.

the moral of the story is they shouldn't be saying, your going to hell, they should be saying, would you like to come to church with me?

Trade you. YOu can have the pushy pagans in my area, and I'll take your pushy Christians. I"m tired as a christian having my pagan friends offer snide remarks on my religion, like I'm responsible for what's wrong and rude words about the pope and priests. I'll take pushy christians any day.

We're not trying to push our beliefs on you.The old saying is true: "A man persuaded against his will, is of the same opinion still." But be careful not to confuse genuine concern with pushing beliefs.

If you knew the cure for AIDS or cancer, and didn't share it with others, wouldn't that be cruel? And if you tried to tell people about the cure, and they didn't believe you, would you just give up? Or would you tell them again, and again, beg them to listen, maybe even get a bit pushy because of the urgency of the situation?

It's not easy to share God's plan of salvation when we know full well that people are likely to take offense. We do it in spite of the likelyhood of rejection, because, frankly, your salvation is more important to me than my own hurt feelings. We were in your shoes once, not wanting to hear that we were sinners in need of a savior. Someone reached out to us in-spite of our indifferent and sometimes ugly responses. And boy are we glad they didn't give up on us. We now have the extreme relief of knowing that our sins (which were keeping us from spending an eternity with the most Holy God,) have been paid for and wiped clean by Christ's perfect and sinless blood being poured out on the cross. It wasn't the nails that held Jesus to the cross that day. (He is all-powerful and could have easily come down at any time.) It was His love for you and me that held him there. And all WE had to do was admit what we really knew all along in the backs of our minds, anyway- that we sin, and we're in need of a Savior to fix it all. (I fully believe that's why we like to invent super-heroes. Who doesn't like super-heroes? We all know we're in deep trouble down here on planet earth, and are badly in need of someone to save us. It's a universal concept.) We lie or cheat, steal, lust after people, take God's name in vain, covet things other people have. Etc..etc...Who of us hasn't broken at LEAST one of the ten commandments? So, it's no huge news that we're in need of a savior. But God has provided the ultimate cure, in the sacrifice of His Son. For free. That IS huge news!

So is this is what people keep sharing with you? They just care about you. Call it Tough Love. Sometimes people love you too much to give up on you. It's because God loved US too much to give up on us. Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Cause some people believe they are so self-righteous. Do not pay heed to them. For its in the law of both chrisitanity and Islam that a person must choose to accept the religion. Religion is not something to be forced to practice. It must be something you have toaccept into your heart and soul.

Your friends are just nimrods.

I dont, I have never tried to push anyone at all to believe like I do.

But, those that do, do it because they believe, per the Great Commission, it is their duty to win people over to Christ, it was commanded by Jesus that they should. Jesus never actually said force it, he merely said spread the word. To me, that means offer it, not push it.
