As short as two years and as long as 6. Anything shorter than 2 years can be covered by an extension of enlistment. The average re-enlistment period is 4 years though.

2 years, 4 years, 6 years. The one re enlisting can decide on that.

Increments of 2 years in the Navy of the 1980-1999 as I recall.

I reenlisted for 4 yrs in 1990, and 6 yrs in 1994... ah the bonus for my rate was SO tempting back then !!

2-6 years but if you have more than 10 years time-in-svc you can sign for up to 14 year but because of the cap on bonuses you max out at 6 years.

ALLinitial contracts are for 8 years. as little as 2 years of that can be Active duty, and therest dividied between Reserves and IRR, but you are contracted for 8 years total, no matter which branch and no matter which job.
