A big difference between the two would be wind resistance. On a treadmill, you won't have any of it while on the street, you get plenty of it.

But that can be easily remedied. Just raise the platform on your treadmill to get more resistance. I've found that the treadmill puts much more pressure on your body to improve than just jogging outside. On the mill, you'll be forced to continue running while outside, you can just take a break whenever you feel like you want to give out.

So yeah, they're two very different experiences.

Yes!

running on a treadmill makes you feel like a hamster in a cage while running on the street makes you feel more free. Also the street presents challenges such as hills and slopes where a treadmill only changes if you make it change. On the flipside the street can be hazordous to your lungs if you are running in a highly polluted area or around alot of cars since when you are running you are breathing harder and sucking air deeper into your lungs, polluted air deeper into your lungs.

dont run on the street!it does irepairable damage to your back, knees, ankles and feet, and the cars will always win.treadmills are ok but a better alternative is a proper running machine.a running machine excersizes a lot more muscle groups than either a treadmill or running on the street, and with no negative impact.

Disadvantages to the treadmill are your stride will shorten, even with TV/music it is boring, and your legs won't be conditioned for harder surfaces.

There are advantages to both treadmills and roads and both should be included if you are training for races/running events.

When I train, I run on asphalt roads when weather conditions are optimal and to "harden" my legs for road races. I include asphalt and dirt trails for the scenery and interest, also safer. Treadmills usually twice a week to take advantage of the pacing capabilities and softer surface. I am 54 and still running marathons.

yes it is actually much easier to run on a treadmill.

It is also better for your knees as the pavement doesn't "give" like a rubber treadmill will.

However you could solve this by running on grass or soft ground not hard concrete.

The weather will also play a huge role in your cardio and your body conditioning too.

On a treadmill you have five advantages. You are not going to twist your ankle hitting a crack in the pavement. You are not going to get rain or snow on you. You are not going to get hit by a car. You are not going to get chased by a dog. When you get tired you stop instead of having to get home before you are done running.

The disadvantage is that the only scenery you will see is on a TV.

In my experience, yes. I never managed to get comfortable on a treadmill. YA needs a runners board for questions like this.
