ok the other answers are right. no cure but there are preventatives. this is no darn help for now but echinacia is a great one for PREVENTING cold and flu. it boosts your immune system after about a week of daily doses BUT if you take it for more that 6 weeks your body becomes dependent on it so be aware and mark on a calender when you started taking it. if you use it at the beginning of nxt cold season you will be in a great position to fight infections.
for now eucalyptus oil in a burner when you are at home and a few drops on a tissue for when you are out will unblock a stuffy nose and make it runny thus getting the mucus out of your body quicker. the mucus is your bodies way of getting toxins and germs out of your body in tandem with your kidneys cleaning your blood stream so drink LOADS of water as this will give your kidney more water to pass with the stuff you don't want in your bloodstream.

I swear by those 1000 mg vitamin C tablets that dissolve in water. You can buy them in a tube at the pharmacy. I also like the Seven Seas Vit C and Zinc pills.
Night and Day Nurse will keep you on your feet until you are healed.

I use aromatherapy and I haven't had a cold since. So while it may not help you in this situation, you could be preapred for the next time. My favorite essential oils for this are tea tree, eucalyptus, and lavender. Pick up a book about it and it will tell you what will help.

Put some hot water in a bowl, mix some Vicks in with it (about 1 or tsps), put a towel over your head, stick your face over the bowl, then breathe in the vapour. That should clear it right up! x

The common cold is an acute, usually afebrile, self-limited viral infection involving upper respiratory symptoms, such as rhinorrhea, cough, and sore throat. Diagnosis is clinical. Hand washing helps prevent its spread. Treatment is supportive.
Please see the web pages for more details on Common cold.

Plenty of rest, get a family member to help you look after your child. If that is not possible, please be as sanitary as possible. Go to the hospital and ask for the paper mask, they will give you a few if you explain. If you are feeling achy, take aleave or tylenol. Most colds do not last but four to seven days, TAKE CARE!!!!
