That's the case since 9/11. It was already taking long now it is longer because of all the necessary recently added security layers to go through. Just keep waiting, renewing and enjoy one of the best places to live on this side of life. It is worth the effort, believe me. When discouraged think about your descendants that will benefit of your patience and endurance. The people that gave you harsh and rude answers do not realize that one day someone in the past of their family tree thought about them when trying to get settled in this land of the brave and the free

It depends how long it will take you to find a company which is willing to sponsor your for a greencard. Given that you have just a bachelor degree it might not happen. Generally in order to sponsor you for a greencard the company needs to show that there is no US citizen available to fill the position. The more advanced your degree is and the more work experience you have the more likely that can be the case. Once the labor certification is approved you could get a greencard within half a year. The hard part is finding a company willing to go through this expensive process on your behalf. Usually you try to get an H1B visa first. But your company also has to sponsor that. With the current ecomomic situation the number of companies willing to sponsor foreign labor has gone done. It probably depends what your field is whether you have a chance.

You are just really going to have to wait it out.. It is all a waiting game. Since 9/11 it takes forever to get a green card or a work permit. Did they tell u what kind of background check they are doing and why? And did you work with a attorney or do your papers on your own? If you went with a attorney tell him to get on the ball and do his job!!

I have a friend whose family came here (legally) from Germany in 1999. They are still waiting on their green cards.. They have been told that it is all of the illegals in this country who are making it so hard for others to get green cards.

Oh come on!
Someone is saying that it takes long to get the GC because of all illegals.
Tha'ts do stupid.
The illegals ARE NOT IN THE LINE.
The INS is totally and has always been incompetent and corrupt, and perhaps underfunded which may explain "incompetent", but not corrupt.

America thanks you for doing it legal.

It's worth the wait and the cost. Hang in there. Whatever you've paid out already is an investment in your future - and still cheaper than getting deported and having to start all over again.

Our government is not the best. I can agree though that I am glad you are trying to be a legal resident.

If you don't like waiting on the bench, get your ball and go home, or stay and wait to be called. Others would kill to change seats with you.

No sympathy here. I certainly didn't twist your arm to come. I will tell you this. I absolutely DO RESPECT the fact that you are doing what you are supposed to do by law. Many don't.
