In principle, almost all Nikon lenses (of whatever age) fit all Nikon cameras; digitals are no exception. HOWEVER, some old lenses (with the rabbit ears) could damage the body because the "ears" protrude and may (in some cases) scratch the body.
Although you can use old lenses you won't be able to take advantage of the electronic doohas as the lens has no electronic contacts. In addition to the "D" lenses, only the AF (auto focus) lenses have contacts (although not as sophisticated as the "D" lenses). But you can still take photos.

The only lenses that can damage the D70s (or any digital Nikon) are those that require mirror lock-up. The D70s can't lock the mirror in the up position. (So the mirror would clip or crash on the lens, potentially causing damage.)
The D70s also can't meter with manual focus lenses, but that's a different matter.

examining the define i'm guessing that that's a 58mm diameter fisheye clear out and that they'll grant a step down ring to your lens whilst asked. The wording in the define is kinda slippery. i could ask the seller at the instant. All we are able to do is guess what they're attempting to declare. i could borrow one from a chum before you definitely via this variety of fisheye "lens". i've got consistently chanced on that the image high quality of clear out variety optics is iffy at terrific. $ninety 9 is hundreds of money. that's fairly useful to evaluate saving it and employing it to a genuine fisheye lens.

See page 184 of your user manual for a list of incompatible lenses. Included in this list, I see:

Fisheye (6mm f/5.6; 8mm f/8; OP 10mm f/5.6)

Please see if your lens is one of these. I suspect it might be rear element intrusion, as OMG mentioned. I have never blocked a mirror from function, so I don't know what to tell you to look for. It might have appeared to work just fine, but you might have a few new scratches on your mirror, too, if not a stripped gear or two...
