My step-son was watching a video and all of the sudden it stopped working. We only really ever use it on weekends and even then maybe for only a few hours. I can't even get the video tape out and I think there is still a dvd in the other side. I just bought it March 2005 so the warrenty is now void. One interesting detail is that I had it powered by a Monster power bar, which actually is the same size as the dvd/vcr player. I never turn it off because it powers all my other stuff like the tv, xbox and cable box. I tried using the regular wall outlet, but nothing. Does it cost alot to have it repaired??? It is made by Samsung.

The power supply could be burned out. Do you or your children leave the DVD/VCR unit on when not in use (not your power bar - but the DVD/VCR unit).

To Take out The DVD...,
Some DVD players have a slot on its underbelly just slightly back from the front door slot - DO NOT TILT THE VCR - but hold it even or the DVD will fall off into the unit and see if there is a long slot..., be sure to have a Butter-Knife handy so you can take care of it on the spot...,

If there is a slot - it should have a direction arrow, simply place your butter-knife in the slot opposite of the arrow and slide the butter-knife the direction of the arrow.., it should come open and allow you to get the DVD out.

If you do not have a slot - then CAREFULLY try to pull open the drawer/door to extract the DVD.

As for the VHS tape? Odds are it will be cheaper to buy a new one than to repair the DVD/VCR combo - but please call and electronics repair shop to be sure..., anyhow they can get the tape out - OR - if you decide its cheaper to buy a new one than to repair it - take it apart and extract the VHS Tape.. BE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED or you'll get zapped.

Do the other appliances hooked into the power bar have power? Does the power bar have power? Does the wall outlet have power? Is your circuit breaker tripped?

Once you've eliminated those questions, you might confirm the DVD player has a problem. Before you try to find a repairman, try jiggling the cord. If that doesn't work, try thumping it. Yeah, not scientific, but it sometimes works.

DVD/VCR players are so cheap now that it's less costly to just replace them rather than repair them. With that in mind, take the thing apart and see how it works. You might find a loose connection or a slipped belt. You will be able to get the DVD out this way and probably get it to release the VCR tape, too. If you manage to fix it, you are money ahead. If you don't, you've at least learned something (hopefully your step son, too) about how things work. Much better use of time than actually watching a movie.

you have lost the independent factor interior the circuit. it rather is rather risky, greater electricians are killed each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days with a foul independent than maximum different reasons blended. turn the means off to that circuit, investigate each connection interior the circuit. in case you start up up by making use of marking the only that works, nearest the only that doesn't artwork, it ought to be located at a style of factors. in case you nonetheless have subject, call a qualified professional electrician.

if it still is under warranty take advantage of it .if it isn't then take the top off and look for a small fuse they are cheap to replace.most small appliances have one( you would not believe how many people throw out microwaves over a three dollar fuse ) .warning though if it is under warranty and you remove the cover ,it will void your warranty.hope this helps
