as an attempt to spread Christianity?

Also, how do Jews interpret the 40 years wandering the desert?

Was there really that much killing and what was the point?

well the Crusades and the conquest of Cannan were a little different. First the Crusaders often went in to villages in Europe and kill people were their was no enemy or army to fight. The Israelites fought wars against army's and fortifications.

as for the 40 years no they were not walking around the Sinai dessert for 40 years. Most of the time they were camped in one spot. Read up about the spy debacle that will explain why they were their so long.

As for the killing we really dont know how much blood shead their was from the Israelite battles. If you notice Their is almost never a record of any Israelites dieing yet all the Canaanites they attacked did die? History tends to be written by the victor this is no different.

Not 100% sure I understand your question. The crusades was an attempt to drive out the Muslims form the holy lands by the Christians. On the way the Christians decided to kill the infidels amongst there midst (the Jews).

The 40 years (one generation) in the desert was a punishment for the golden calf incident.

There was a lot of killing and the point was that hatred and prejudice leads to very unfortunate results.

Im sorry for the crusades, so many inocent people being killed, people are meant to spread christianity but in a peaceful and respectful manner. As for the 40 yearseach year represents a day that they held back from taking their promised land. It was a lesson to teach them to trust in God no matter the obstacles.

the first crusade was initiated by the byzantine emperor trying to get aid from western Europe to stop the invading Islamic Turks from overwhelming Anatolia. in subsequent crusades the idea was to push Islam out of the lands that were formally part of the christian byzantine empire. it turned into a kingdom building free for all though based on personal greed. the crusades cannot be condemned for the original idea behind them as they were to reconquer lands that had been invaded by Muslims, or for their brutality as both sides were equally blood thirsty. why they can be condemned is for the selfish greed and fractious stupidity of the crusaders.

G-d did not send the jews around killing people from the surrounding villages. G-d said - "i'm giving you the land of canaan because the people there are evil and sacrifice their children to the fire. but the other nations around it are perfectly fine, and if you attempt to harm them or steal from them i will annihilate you." its all in the book of numbers.

as for wandering 40 years in the desert, the hebrews were unfaithful to G-d in a couple of incidents, and they started complaining and saying things like "if only we had died in the land of egypt, or if only we might died in this wilderness" (num 14.2). and so G-d got a bit pissed at their lack of faith and said "very well, i'll make sure you do exactly that. in this wilderness shall your carcasses drop." (num 14.27). and so the hebrews weren't allowed to go into canaan until all of the unfaithful generation had died in the desert, including moses and aaron.

The Christian crusades were justified on the basis that the Islamic people were seen as barbarian heathens who could only be "saved" by converting them to Christianity.

When confused about the facts, just turn to the Word - all the information to be shared is there.

Jewish and Christianity faiths are similar in degree to the knowledge of Jesus but denominational beliefs are different.

The 40 years of wandering was due to their disobedience to God.

There has always be killing but not to the direction of God but the selfishness and disobedience of man.

Questions - search the Word!

May you find the peace you are obviously searching for!

God bless!

The Crusades probably thought that justified what they did, but it did not.
