They are called Ketostix, and can be found in most chemists / pharmacys
I have been on the Atkins diet now for exactly 3 years. I have lost in excess of 70lbs.
It does have a bad reputation as a diet, as a lot of people dont actually understand it. Most people think that its all bacon eggs and butter! Where as its a lot more healthier than that. YOu do have to eat vegetables aswell. As you probably know all ready, 20grams of carbs a day for the first 2 weeks of induction, spread over a specific legal list of veggies.
Feel free to email me if you want any further information.
Good luck

Its total BS that it has a negative effect on cholesterol levels. I have had mine checked 3 times in 3 years and each time my levels have dropped.

The ketosticks are a waste of money. They are also notorious for false readings. I discourage our Kimkins.com members from using them.
One woman placed a ketostick on a towel before taking a shower and the steam turned the stick pink. Was the steam in ketosis?
If you're an avid exerciser, your ketones won't register because they're being used as energy and burned.
If you overeat dietary fat, your ketostick will register dark although you won't lose much weight.
The only proof of 'real' ketosis that you need is your bathroom scale. If you're losing quickly, then you're in ketosis. If not, then you're not.

I think you need to rethink your choice of diet. The Atkins diet is not a healthy one. Your body needs carbohydrates. There are different types of carbohydrates, and not all of them are bad for you. Look at what all the meat is doing to your body. Personally I believe that the only safe way to lose weight is to totally change eating patterns to a BALANCED diet. Some experts think that the Atkins diet can lead to colon cancer because of the lack of fiber since you are eating so low carb. The metabolic processes involved in using fat for energy instead of carbohydrates can lead to increased uric acid and ketones which can cause kidney problems, gout and headaches. There can be low amounts of dietary fiber on the Atkins Diet leading to constipation and chronic bowel disease. Some doctors believe that the high amounts of animal fat eaten on the Atkins Diet has a bad effect on cholesterol levels and can lead to cardiac disease. Bottom line is stop worrying about how many grams of carbohydrates you eat when you are eating insane amounts of meat. A balanced diet and exercise is always key.

Ketostix
But try another diet. The rise in ketones caused by the Atkins Diet almost put me into Kidney failure.
Edited to add-since I got thumbs down- I was in the hospital for 14 days on dialysis because my body was in ketosis. The high protien levels are bad for your kidneys. This is the truth. 4 different doctors at the hospital told me that it was the diet that almost killed my kidneys!

hey..after a month or so...switch to the south beach diet..
and also..without exercise your diet is DOOMED.
if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.
1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day
2.) drink lots of water
3.)exercise every day
4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep.
