I dont want to damage my singing voice any time soon...is drinking bad as well? I never have but I heard that before

Obviously, smoking will damage your voice. Not just cigarettes, but any drugs can harm your vocal chords as well. If you have a job or profession that you are constantly raising your voice, you can actually damage them that way too. When you are sick, avoid using your voice if at all possible. The more you cough and clear your throat, the more your vocal chords are scratched.

Wow... there are really so many things that you can do to harm your voice. As many have already said, smoking has got to be high on the list. Singing heavy metal/death metal vocals also must rank highly.

smoking is the most ultimate if your a singer it is, but if you are some one who does not sing thing doing any harm to your throat of vocal cords will efect your voice

Smoking - does damage to vocal chords

Excessive screaming(ballgames, etc)

Forcing yourself to talk when have laryngitis....strains vocal chords.
