AC is alternative current and Dc is direct current. The device designed for Ac will not accept Dc in put.So connect the Ac bulb only to Ac and if the voltage available is 240 V Ac you will get the maximum output in terms of brightness.

First of all you can not connect to Ac and DC. You can connect to AC or DC. DC will have higher output.

Each bulb is designed to work on specific current values (or Power Value, P=I^2 R). Say we have a 24V bulb with 100 Ohm filament. Now we can find the current flows through when we connect it to a 24V supply. It will be V/R= I, 24/100 = 0.24A, So in our example bulb is designed to work on 0.24A or Its having a power rating of P=I^2 R = 0.24x0.24x100 = 0.576W. Now take your 24V bulb and connect to 240V power supply then our calculations became V/R= I, 240/100 = 2.4A or It is dissipating power of P=I^2 R = 2.4x2.4x100 = 576W. Much higher than its rated power. And surely the bulb will burn off. Usually its hard to find 24V bulbs in market but different power rated bulbs are easily available like 20W, 24W, 40W, 60W, 100W etc. People in rural area where voltage is very low and make use of this principle to get more light with higher rated bulbs like 100W instead of 60W or 40W. Though they are using 100W bulbs the actual power consumption would be much smaller.

Ofcourse the dc one because the rms value of ac < the rms valve of dc for the same voltage

DC can be true or interrepted, souce, if true DC it should give out more light, that is non interupted.

AC is always interupted source. Main types are 50 Hz (In India) and 60 Hz in USA.
