the freedom that was Americas is long since gone, the whole nation is under the thumb of those who own the wealth, and these are the top Jewish bankers like the Rothschilds, Rockefellers and the Warburgs who have the country so much in their financial debt that the ordinary man and woman have to work at least 3-4 days a week just to pay of the national debt owed to these greedy bankers.
in fact how many Americans know that the Federal Reserve is not owned by government or the people but by these banking moguls.

Very free.

Where else can you mock and ridicule your own leaders without fear of being killed or arrested or losing your job.

Try talking against the Queen in England and see what that gets you.

America has few sacred cows and we try and keep them out. The flag is an issue and there is a movement to turn it into a sacred cow so that no one can burn it.

Generally the Supreme Court has ruled it's a valid freedom of expression.

The only thing you can't do in America is a violent uprising against the government and possessing weapons of mass distruction without approval of government.

Actually, however, we've had a few riots and most of those people were not jailed heavily or treated as treasonous people.

America is probably the only country around where Christians, Atheists, Jews would form a permiter around an Arab neighborhood or a black neighborhood or a Mexian neighborhood or an Armenian neghborhood and defend those people, at the risk of their own lives, from unwarranted phsyical attacks.

Our Army, National Guard and Police are made up of all types of people.

In the Army during the Vietnam conflict I personally was in a company with Muslims, Mexican Nationals legally in this country, Jewish people, Seventh Day Adventists, Ba'Hai, Mormons, Born Again Christians, Baptists, Blacks, Whites, Browns, Yellows.

You won't find that in many countries.

We will be, however, possibly facing a conflict in short order. The first Muslim representative was elected to the Congress and he is intending to use the Koran and Swear by Allah. I don't anticipate that will be allowed by constitutional reasons.

The Constitution specifically covers this and allows the man to Refuse the Bible or any book to Swear with his hand on and does NOT require him to say the word God.

He must, however, take the standard oath of office, to serve faithfully and protect the Constitution the United States from all Enemies foreign and Domestic and the defend the laws of the land.

He need make no reference to any diety.

The Bible and "So help me God" is a tradition and one that should probably be disbanded. IT's voullentary and most representaties (certainly not the Atheists) take it in stride.

Not sure what was done in the past with JEwish members. If they were allowed to use the Torah, then this Muslim may be allowed to use the Quran. If not, he will not be allowed to fomrally use it, although I can't imagine them not allowing him to hold his own copy in his own hands.

That's about as close as we're goiong to get to "non freedom" and this is based on the laws of the land that state the Constitution is ALL and we must follow it. Hence if there are passages in the Constitution government swearing in ceremonies the CONSTITUTION must be followed to the letter.

That is the basis of how we hve a peaceful government with no revolutions and assainations by other factions (just random loonies do the assasinations)..

America is a land of laws and some of these do repress some things, but they can always be changed. Some laws are not enforced.

America was one of the first countries to publish pictures or partially naked bodies in national magazines (Playboy in 1951), we certainly weren't the first and there were may lawsuits and the publisher was arrested for indecency several times.

We were among the first to decriminalize MArijuana. Again, certainly not the first and in some areas it's still a serious and enforced crime. You certainly won't find Hash bars like you find in the Netherlands for $15 in shoppes.

America is still very protective of children and they have few enumerated rights under the age of 18.

America has never, as far a I can recall, banned print books for any reason. We do censor music, films and TV, sometimes more than other countries do.

In these areas we are, however in the upper 1/4 of the rest of the world in terms of liberalization.

There are some restrictions on some freedoms, but this is largely for the protection of others freedoms. For example, if you are a medical doctor you can't put your office in your home in most areas without permisson from government. These are called zonning laws and they are don't to keep car traffice and foot traffic away from the homes of other people.

Politically we have a great deal more freedom than most, but more and more I would say that we are entering an era where as many freedoms as possible are being curtailed. It started with the horribly failed war on drugs, which has ruined the lives of millions for victimless crimes,it increased the violence in the drug trade a hundred fold by making it so only the hardest of criminals would risk the draconian penalties etc. For the first time in american criminal history we had laws which actually began your punishment before you had even been convicted of a crime, when charged with a drug crime all property which the state claimed was involved could be immediately seized, and many could tell you that even if you are found innocent it is often difficult if not impossible to get much of that property back.
And now we are getting even worse,we have a govt which actually claims a right to seize a person, and hold them as long as they deem necessary in the name of national security, without ever charging them with a crime. We have a govt which is literally trying to remove our most basic constitutional rights without any input from the people. What rights the left didn't manage to curtail during their reign, like the thousands of unconstitutional limits placed on second amendment rights, the right is now trying to take the rest. This may very well be the most dangerous period for the freedom of Americans,if we do not stand up and be counted soon we could easily end up just like every other petty dictatorship on earth in the next 25 years. Oh we will still have our elections to maintain the illusion, but that's almost an illusion now in reality. I mean elections don't mean you're free, even Sadaam had elections.

Well, we have the freedom to be born poor and still work very hard and provide well for our families. There are many areas of opportunity here, and men and women can get good educations and take up any vocation that they want to.
Our medical system really sucks, and if you have bad credit (due to unpaid medical bills, utility payments late or forsaken, credit cards overdue ect...) then life can be very difficult-- it will deter your ability to own your own home, or purchase a car, ect....
We have the freedom to criticize and ridicule any leader or any issue we want to without fear of imprisonment or death (from the government)
We vote for our own leaders and we can choose where we live here in America, where we go, and what we do.
There are ups and downs in this country that is for sure.

Free enough not to infringe the rights of others. The only freedoms I see not being allowed, wrongly, is for minorities such as gays, blacks, etc. How about this why dont you send a letter to your leader to cut off all ties with America. No more importing of products and no aid ever and then ask your leader to tell our leader to go away. That would make you happy I suppose.

we have more free will than many other countries and while the U.S.A. isn't perfect as long as we can maintain our free will and rights we will be alright. when " Big Brother " starts taking our rights and freedoms away we are in deep, deep trouble. B. Franklin said,
" those who are willing to give up a little freedom for safety, deserve neither freedom nor safety. "

Please remember, freedom without responsibility is not true freedom. America is going through a culture war in fighting against selfish people claiming their freedom is being violated when, in fact, they are violating someone else's God-given rights. I hope this puts this subject in perspective.

Freedom doesn't mean everyone can do whatever they want whenever they want.

I'd rather be here than anywhere else.
