How long would it take a very active 67 yo male to recover from ORIF?

Active male = marathon runner and works out significatly every day
He's 6'1", 180 lbs.......How long would he need to stay in the hospital and how long berfore he could move around without the aide of a cane/walker, etc.

if the ORIF is in the upper limb bone heals in 4-6 weeks
if the ORIF is in the lower limb bone heals in 6-12 weeks
if its his femur/tibia/fibula he should not bear weight on his leg for this period
he will obviously lose muscle stength during this period
but he can try isometrics which help maintain current strength
he'll probably be back to marathon running in bout 6-8 months or more
