I have Microsoft Office 2003 and when i go to open my word document it takes long to open and sometimes will freeze. My document is a letter and not big at all with no photos. I ran a repair with my cd - uninstalled office/ reinstalled it. I try to rename the Normal.dot file and I still have the problem. I dont' have this problem with excel or powerpoint.

Is there a macro hidden in it somewhere, that is running every time you open it? This is _a_ possible solution...

I agree with Rawlyn. If you can finally get the document to open, copy the document and paste it into notepad to get rid of macros. You can paste the plain text back into a new document and save it.

You can also disable the macros,

Hope that helps.

Sounds like you may have some spyware or a virus. Run adaware and some antivirus software to find it.
